England Branded Least Patriotic Nation in Europe As Citizens Are Too Scared to Fly the Flag

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-fly-flag.html

Maybe they need a new flag:

England is the least patriotic nation in Europe as people are too scared of being branded racist to fly the flag.
Over-the-top political correctness, loss of national identity, and worrying about being judged when expressing pride in the country are the main reasons behind the findings, according to a study.
Six per cent of Englishmen and women said they were 'scared' to fly the national flag and one in six fear they will be told to take it down.

This doesn't surprise me at all. As posters have put in the comments section, England doesn't even have its own national anthem and you're not allowed to describe yourself as English on official forms so what can you expect?
Needless to say, St. George's Day is not a national holiday (unlike in other countries) so the message is pretty clear and it's no wonder that only 1/3rd of the population actually know when St. George's Day is!

Doesn't this phrase in the article just sum it all up perfectly though ...

Their fear of being smeared as racist is greater than their enthusiasm for expressing their love of their country

    I despair!!!

Flag waving is not necesseraly the same as patriotism. Some people that like waving the flag are not nationalists. Like on the 17th of May in Norway, everyone waves the flag (or at least it's not seen as racist), but some who do it are multiculturalists. Same with the USA, many people wave the flag but are still multiculturalists. In Sweden, the flag is seen a a racist symbol, and is thus only used with great caution. So in Norway, a nationalist is more free to wave the flag than a nationalist in Sweden.

And the headline is misleading, just because a patriot is scared of waving her flag, does not mean they are not patriotic. They are just scared that people will not like their patriotism. The multiculturalists at the Daily Mail, of course have drawn a false conclusion from the survey, to fit their agenda of the English not caring or being proud of their country (when in fact they are just scared to show that they really ARE), so that the patriots who read it will feel hopeless.

I don't agree with the article. There were many St. Georges flags out yesterday, I personally put my hand on my heart every time I passed one

no doubt, as a majority group, English people are very supressed in ability to express openly 'national' feelings in today's world, as a result of cultural marxism, however the same applies to all western nations and many are worse than us, eg. at the German world cup there many were stories about how Germans 'finally felt it was OK to fly the flag'. Compare that to how readily English fans will fly the flag, and you will see why I disagree.
Also, we have an 'almost mainstream' and growing-in-size nationalistic party, something which is totally absent in Scandinavia, Germany, etc.

St. George's Day is a multicultural event to be celebrated by all.
