    Here’s the Norse 3D Models My Team Are Making, Suggestions Welcome!

    as said about in my introduction thread, here’s the norse models my team are making, suggestions welcome!

    These are 3d models for a modification of rome total war, they are a work in progress so I need input on what else to add, and what changes to make for these. The mod isn’t set in any particular time, just ancient Germanic, roughly between 1000 and 300bc.

    Just for historical accuracy, I don't believe the norse used the recurve bow which was something more specific to the East, Steppe nomads and the Central Asian Empires. Other than that, I quite like what I see.

    The troll looks a little bit unfurnished. Other than that, I'm very impressed. It would be nice to see a Berserker - and perhaps a longspear man - too though.

    Do you have an idea of what kind of bow would they have used? Is there anything important I am missing? …in terms of what you would get in an army on a legendary journey.

    Thanks, oh yes of course we will have berserkers, I am hoping to make special psycho animations for them. What would you add to the trolls?

    I am not sure [i think its quite low due to the amount of models used in an army], but most of the detail has to be made graphically, so I usually use photos for faces and most everything else copy them onto the skins with the clone brish], rather than photoshop textures. There is a low maximum of vertices on the torso for some reason.

    They look good, but there is a few smoothing errors around the arm areas. It's difficult to get the topology/mesh to deform around the arms well, but if you get this right, they will look miles better when animated.

    Mostly on the bowman and swordsman I can see this.

    Well its mythological so I would think they are ok, a helm was found in denmark with wings on, and even an older one with horns ~ though it may have been celtic. There doesn’t seam to be too much difference between celt and Germanic the further you go back.
