I like German Shepherds. They're loyal to their master. They can be the right man's best friend or the wrong man's worst enemy. The dog of dogs. But my wife is changing my mind, I think I might like an Akita. I dunno.![]()

Weimaraners.

My best friend is my Weimaraner, who sitting next to me as I type this.
They are the best breed ever, highly intelligent, loyal, brave, and evenly tempered.
He goes with me everywhere, and has to try and "help" no matter what I'm doing.
A high maintenance breed though, that require a LOT of one's time and devotion, you can't just leave them in the backyard like a Labrador, they want and need to be around you all the time, and require alot of physical exercise (being a gun dog)
I also like Hungarian Vizslas too, they are a similar breed, but I'll be getting a second weimaraner soon, to keep my drongo Fritz company.
I like German Shepherds too (my old roommate had the kindest Shepherd in the world, but unfortunately he passed away last year).
But overall, my favourite is the Dobermann Pinscher. It is very aestetically appealing, combining grace with latent threat, and it is also intelligent, and has a certain personality that is, in lack of better words, Ario-Germanic![]()
We have a purebred Siberian husky.
Definitely a good dog
Newfoundland, a big hairy mound thats as loyal & peaceful as anything.
Have had a Bernese mountain dog before, and also have a St Bernard, but the Newfoundland just comes out on top because its such a lovely animal, plus they are fantastic swimmers !
Yep hes mine![]()
The Boxer: friendly, and not stupid like Golden Retrievers.

One of my favorite dogs is a Basenji. I had one once before and loved it. Here is what I learned from all my readings of them and personal experience.... They originated in Africa as a hunting dog. The people would tie bells around them to be able to track their movements once they had got the prey. The reason for the bells is because it is a barkless breed of dog. Yes, they do NOT bark. They also happen to be hypoallergenic. Which is great for me because I am allergic to dogs among dozens of other things. The downside of them is that they are extremely stubborn dogs. If you think you are a stubborn person then you may have finally met your match with these dogs.
They are a short haired, smaller breed and the no barking thing is a definite plus. Here are some examples of Basenji. I google searched these, because I didn't want to bother scanning the pics of mine that I used to have. They have a curled tail and a white collar around their neck. They also have those large pointed ears which I am sure was probably great for hearing while hunting.

Great Danes are really awesome. They are tall, beautiful, proud, loyal, intelligent dogs, they just have EVERYTHING!! They're also good guards, even though they're not naturally as violent as a pitbull (which are just ugly bastards...)
Huskies are great too. They look familiar to wolves, but they aren't mixed in any way with them. They're still good dogs for the Great White North.

Smart, loyal, beautiful, protective and yet still gentle. And if a German Shepard is good enough for Hitler, it's good enough for me.
Shame they don't live longer, 10-12 years isn't nearly enough time with such a great dog!
My favorite dog is the Black Labrador. It was the dog that i knew most as a kid. My grandparents had two and my uncle had one. They were the most loyal dog to me. Any time I was in trouble, they would always come to see if I was okay and get others to help me. Like that time I was sledding and ended up hanging upside down. I managed to fix myself but that dog was there anyways. I don't know about other dogs really. I don't like long haired dogs very much. Greyhounds are interesting...
