What Nationalities Comprise Your Ancestral Nationality?

Because of things said in this thread, I thought it'd be interesting for us to make a poll. The basic question is.... what nationalities comprise your ancestry and general make-up. You don't have to list them. The important thing is the number and amount, plus whether you are an American, European, or other colonist (Australian, South American, etc.). For example, my ancestry is comprised of 7/8 German and 1/8 (split English and Irish), and I am "American." If you don't want to list what yours are,then just say for example: 7/8 one thing, and 1/8 something else. I know some people don't like to admit what they are and that is okay in this poll.


Edit: I forgot to link above...plus I wanted to add that this is NOT a "better than thou" poll, so NO insults!!!!! Obviously, we'd expect Europeans to have less ancestral nationalities than Americans and other colonials. This is simply informational because of the other thread it was brought up in.

Far as I know my ancestry is 3/4ths German, 1/8th Irish or Black Irish, 1/16th Scottish, 1/16th French.

I am of English, German, Lowland Scots (ethnically Anglo-Saxon), and Ulster Scots (ethnically Anglo-Saxon) descent with less than an eighth Irish.
I'm not sure what the percentages are but My dad is probably 80 to 90% German, the rest being English and a little Irish. My mom is an Anglo-Saxon British mix of the aforementioned groups. But the plurality, if not the majority, of my heritage is Anglo-Saxon/English.

All of my ancestors are German (mostly Bavarian), only one grand-grand-grand-grand...father back from the 16th century came from Sweden, thats all "foreign" influence. *g*

Completely Dutch, and mostly Frisian (a little part of my ancestry come from the "Nedersaksische" region).

Meissen-Sachsen (paternal grand-father), Wuerttemberg (all others) = German.

Why would we expect this?

In my experience, most people don't know their ancestors beyond those they have met. Americans in this condition tend to call themselves either "American" or "everything" (or perhaps more denigrating terms). Europeans in this condition tend to call themselves 100% of whatever nationality is predominant where they were born. Neither is necessarily correct. This would seem to indicate that we can only expect that Europeans will claim fewer ancestral nationalities that Americans and other colonials.

I know that here at Skadi one can find many exceptions to this. We are not indicative of the population at large in this group. But even here I have read claims from Europeans of 100% purity of a given nationality with no more evidence than the birth location of one's four grandparents. I have gone back eight generations to come up with my answer to this question, but I feel a little uncertain about the conclusiveness of that small generational depth, since it doesn't go far back into Europe, and international migration in Europe has been very common over the centuries.

So I kind of wonder, Jennifer, what kind of generational depth do you expect from the respondents in this poll? Without significant generational depth, I think the results will be quite skewed.
