    Your Childhood Nickname

    Howdy Skadians,

So, I was wondering, What were your nickname/s given to you when you were a little tyke? Ones your family gave you or your friends. Was there any 'special' reason you were called it.

Please share with us your quirky secrets.

I was called 'Tiger', 'Brat' & 'Get Back Here!!!' a lot. Just kidding! Brat and Tiger are the ones.

Besides nicknames related to my real name... when I was a bit older (going to school), I was crazy about Sailor Moon, and I wanted everyone to call me Rea or Rei (Sailor Mars)... then, when the Outer Sailor Soldiers appeared, I wanted to be called Michiru (Sailor Neptune).

However, my father was calling me often Tsukino Usagi or just Usagi (and another related nickname, a bit ironical, which would be translated something like square head with the mind in corners), because he considered I was behaving like her (Usagi is the main character, Sailor Moon).

Go go Moon Addicts! I watched that show religiously too! Always thought Serena could be related to me. The lazy, clutzy day dreamer thing cuts a little close to home. Hee Hee thanks for sharing. Now if I could just stop that theme song playing in my head. 'Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight...' ~make silly hand pose~

hmm I was called Tiger by my father as well, parents have such poor imagination...
also I was called "räk bröst" shrimp chest (because I was so skinny) and "släp öra" its difficult to translate as it would be "dragging ones ear against the ground" but means to be in ones own world... kinda, by my grandfather.

Shrimp chest! OMG! As in small, not a sea crustacean? 'Tiger', yeah, parents have NO imagination. I can understand about being in ones own world, daydreaming should be a professional and paid pastime.

Oh yes, Sailormoon! I´m guilty of watching it like a nerd back then as well! I liked Sailorpluto and Sailorneptune. Mysterious and sensitive.

Regarding childhood nicknames: Well, "Tschul" and"Julerl" were the most common ones (my prename is Julia).

In my younger years I was always called by my name, as I emerged into high school I earned several nicknames: Shrek, R-Man, Iams (I am Seth), Eagle One, Colonel, Ho-zilla (inside joke), Tennessee Hillbilly, or folks would simply refer to me via my last name Reeder.

As an toddler I got the unfortunate nickname "Winnie"....

My father and a colleague were comparing photos of their darling offspring one day. The other guy showed my dad a picture of his children, and the only thing my father could think of to say that seemed polite was "It's a good thing they're boys, since they both look so much like you!" Of course, both children were girls. Ooops.

So dad proudly pulls out his picture of me at about a year old. The other guy was quite gleeful as he was able to say "Hmmmph - looks like Churchill!"

I must confess, I was a jowly and scowling little creature who looked bald since my hair was so pale and fine as to be only "chick fluff". The resemblace to Winston Churchill in some pics is rather regrettably remarkable.

My father also called me "little swan", since he called my mother "swan" as a pet name rather than the usual "honey" or "dear". He went so far as to inflict on me the middle name of Cygnet (as I was their baby swan - everybody go Awwwww now).

That lasted until I accused him of naming me after the Ugly Duckling, which had apparently never occured to him!
