Regarding height: There are pictures on the internet suggesting that he is neither really tall nor short, so he most probably is of medium height (up to 180cm).

Both are predominantly Nordic. Damon more so. Magnus Carlsen with a stronger UP/Borreby element. Carlsen is probably one of the smartest Germanics alive, but why doesn't he speak out against what is happening in Norway? There is no way he doesn't notice.

I'm not sure you have to be particularly intelligent in general to be good at chess. Good memory and good spatial visualization is pretty much the only traits you need. In all the interviews I've seen of him, he's never appeared significantly above average intelligence. As for his political leanings, he has said that he doesn't talk about politics because he knows a lot of people wouldn't like his views. I suppose that is open to interpretation.

Some sites say it is 190 however AFAIK that is not based on a classic IQ test but on an approach based on a correlation formula between one's Elo rating and IQ. While one does not need to be highly intelligent in order to play chess, a high IQ could prove helpful with chess or any game for that matter. Some of the world's best chess players were reported to be above average when it comes to intelligence. Bobby Fischer supposedly had an IQ of 180, Garry Kasparov had an IQ of 185-190 (though some argue that it is as low as 135), Judit Polgar 170, etc. Not to mention there are different types of intelligence: logic, linguistic, visual-spatial, musical, interpersonal, etc. Carlsen probably has a high visual-spatial intelligence, when it comes to social interaction though he seems to be somewhat autistic.

Nordic is a morphological type. You can be dark haired and eyed and Nordic. Blonde and blue eyed and not Nordic. I was expecting people to say that he was Borreby or his features too broad to be Nordic rather than the pigmentation. He is not a good Nordic example, but he is predominantly Nordic (about 60%), and the rest Borreby. He doesn't look exotic.

It is based on logical reasoning, and unsurprisingly, both of his parents were engineers. If being highly logical is not related to intelligence then I don't know what is.

His head also appears unusually big, which is probably somewhat correlated to his high mental capacity.

Magnus Carlsen Nordic? With dark brown eyes?

East baltic-alpine with nordic and CM-influence. The nose is not nordic (too short and broad, looks rather baltic), brown eyes also hint to darker races (in this case the alpine race?), lips are a bit too full for a nordic type (alpine or med. feature), face a bit too chubby (alpine / east baltic), jaw is relatively broad (CM-influence?). However, face is relatively long, chin is prominent, so is the (in this picture covered) forehead, and his skin and hair are rather bright. There is a nordic influence, but he's not predominantly nordic.

He is not pred. Nordid. He is not dolichocephalic and his pigmentation is too dark. While a minority of Nordids can have hazel or light brown eyes, his are dark brown. He has CM/Borreby/Alpinid traits and possibly some Uralid influence. His eye shape is exotic, possibly some Sami ancestry in the pile. Also he has prognathy.

Right is Borreby. Carlsen is morphologically closer to Matt Damon, who is predominantly Nordic, so he has to be classified as pred. Nordic. Right is also an example of a blonde blue eyed person who is not Nordic.

You don't need to look very Nordic to be predominantly Nordic. "Dalofaelid" is not a useful taxon.
