I like some of things he says, but I think it is more the way he says them that turns people off.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

He seems really well intentioned, but he's a really bad debator. I don't think he's engaged in too many discussions where he's had to employ a polite reciprocity.

I like Jesse Ventura; it goes back to when I used to watch WWF (now WWE) Wresting with my lad, must be 15 years ago

I have even more admiration for him now that he's rattling the US establishment's cage by saying some pretty non-mainstream stuff that most of us (who don't have his access to the media) fully agree with! Personally, I've never had a problem with how he says things, GB, although you've probably seen more of him than I have.

The disappointing party in this "debate" though was the interviewer IMO, who just seemed to want to talk faster and more loudly than his guest. How on earth did he become a radio presenter with such a rude and boorish technique??

In all probability, that's exactly how he got the job. I think the Opie and Anthony Show is a "shock jock" thing. I've seen Ventura in quite a few interviews, though, and he really is notorious for yelling over people and interupting; and he doesn't deal all that well with criticisims or reasonable questions. This particular YouTube clip only shows the tail end of the dialogue, and so is not truly representative. I just thought it was funny how Ventura was clearly and visibly considering squashing the other guy.

Have any of you seen his Conspiracy Theory TV show?

Well when he first got into politics I followed him briefly, he has some good ideas like you said. But he comes off a bit odd to the general public and the fact that the mainstream media won't give him much time doesn't help his case either.

I will say he never quits and does not seem to change his stance and I like that very much.

Ventura comes off too buffoonish to be taken seriously. He has had a tendency in the past to exaggerate. It goes with his professional wrestler persona. Btw, Ventura's birthname was James Janos (he is of Slovak ethnicity), Jess Ventura was his professional name as a wrestler. Not sure if he changed it legally.

As for being a former governor of Minnesota, he won in a 3-way race with less then 40% of the vote. And was a 1-term governor. A decade ago.

I like that he uses his fame as a platform to discuss interesting issues and to ask uncomfortable questions of the people in power. Most celebs are only interested in talking about themselves, fashion, and getting behind ridiculous social garbage. His life experiences make him able to speak as a Navy Seal, a Governor, an actor, etc.

He seems more "real" than other perhaps more cerebral spokespersons. I don't mind that he is passionate when he debates.

I didn't really watch "wrestling" (if it can be called that) and I have seen his show on YouTube once. I have heard him on the radio a few times, so that is where I get most of my impressions of him.
