Die Weisheit zu erlangen ein Auge gab ich her

Neun Lieder lernt ich vom hehren Bruder

Der Bestla dem Bölthornsohn
Von Odrörir dem delsten Met nahm ich einen Trunk
Sie spendeten mir nicht Speis und noch Trank

Nieder neigt ich mich und nahm auf die Stäbe
Nahm sie stöhnend auf dann stürzte ich herab
Lernte sie schreiend und sank ins Leben zurück

But there's not a sweeter, wilder love
