Senator Bayh D-Indiana Will Not Seek Reelection

Senatoir Bayh has announce he will not run for reelection. Bayh is a 2-term senator & a career politician, the son of a former US Senator. Regardless of what he said were his reasons for not seeking reelction, the truth is he & other Dems know there is a bloodbath coming in Novemeber, a referendum on Barack Obama. Bayh was viewed as unbeatable not long ago. Other Democrats are also retiring rather then face defeat in November, including Rep. Patrick Kennedy.

I am going miss him, not really. He was a bad governor as well as turn coat "conservative" democrat. As you know Æmeric, Bayh is a common name in some areas of Southern Indiana. He may try to switch parties or sit one term out. I don't think he is done.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

Former Republican senator Dan Coats is running for the Republican nomination (the was his seat at one time), after having the spent the last 12 years getting rich as a lobbyist & living in Virginia & North Carolina. He is the establishment candidate. I'm rooting for John Hostettler, former representative for the 8th District (Indiana) who lost relection in 2006 due to the Bush backlash & the fact that the Republican establishment threw him under the bus because he went against the party on Iraq & deficit spending. Hostettler seems likely to win the support of the Tea Partiers.

I won't be surprised if Jonathan Weinzapfel, the Democratic mayor of Evansville, goes after the Democratic nomination. He is another career politician. I just don't trust people who have been running for something since the 7th grade student council.

Enforcing stronger terms limits may be another way to get rid of these work shy professional politician types as well.

I remember hearing an argument put forth by a professional politician, his name escapes me atm, against term limits. He opined that nothing could get done in one term, and that you needed to be able to be re-elected if you wanted to effective. Yeah right! A more effective thief is what he really meant.
