German University May Drop Anti-Semitic Writer’s Name

A group of student activists at Ernst Moritz Arndt University in northeastern Germany are calling for the institution’s name to be changed, saying Arndt was an anti-Semite.

In early January, a group calling itself “Uni Ohne Arndt” (University Without Arndt) asked the 12,000 students enrolled in the college in Greifswald to vote in favor of striking the famed writer’s name from the university’s title.

Twenty-three percent of the student body turned out to vote; in the end, the initiative was defeated narrowly, with 49 percent voting to retain the name and 43 percent voting to change it to University of Griefswald — a difference of just 182 votes.

However, noted group spokesman Sebastian Jabbusch, the results may have been skewed by voters who did not oppose a name change in general, but did not like the option given.

“Many students told us they were against Ernst Moritz Arndt, but not for University of Griefswald,” Jabbusch said. “They’d like to have a new name.”

The name could still be changed, however, when the university senate meets in March to discuss the issue. Several professors at the university have spoken out in favor of a change.

Oh, right! So I take it that Germans studying in Israel can now object to any University names of Jews that were anti-German, can they?

Jews aren't racist? And what's wrong with nationalism?

The renaming of schools and famous places is not an uncommon practice in Germany. In 2008, the Erich Hoeppner Gymnasium in Berlin dropped the name of the Wehrmacht general, and in April of 2009 the Hindenburg Gymnasium in Trier changed its name to Humboldt Gymnasium because parents were unwilling to send their children to a school named after the man who appointed Hitler as chancellor.

WTF? A tad slow, too--took them 64 years to figure that out. But they obviously don't have a clue that Hindenburg couldn't stand Hitler, and that the move was made because they thought they could control Hitler.

Germans need to realize that Jews have a belief system that makes them inherently vindictive and victimized. They'll never forget what the Germans did to them, nothing that Germans do will ever change the fact that they will always loathe Germans and Germany.

Most of the scientists that formed the components of the theory of relativity were Nazis. Thus their names had been swept under a rug and Einstein published papers basically repeating their discoveries and gets all the credit. This is basically the gist of the whole Einstein is a phony argument. Most of the great minds around that time were Nazis. So as a propaganda tool acredit a Jew with thinking it all up.

So why does the German government continue to pander to Jews in such a craven manner? It clearly won't remove the grudge the Jews have but it will embolden them to demand even more in future.

On the face of it there's no logic to the German behaviour here, but of course there's a lot more to it than this For a start there's the fact that Germany is basically an occupied country with just a puppet government!

Under Western civilization, our nations became more clearly defined and internally united than ever before thanks to the Western concept of the nation-state. It's not the traditional values of Western civilization that have led people to denounce the great patriots of their nation; it's the counterculture and its revolt against Western civilization that has ushered in such self-destructive behavior.

The vainglorious little academics, on both the right and left, who rail against the West and romanticize savagery from the comfortable confines of their ivory towers are truly the greatest fools of them all. They'll be the first to have their throats cut when civilization finally collapses.

Sometimes I almost think it'd be worth the collapse just to see the look of abject terror on their formerly sneering faces as they are led up to the gallows to reap what they've sown. The thought of such poetic justice gives me a Mona Lisa-esque smile.

Arndt's railing against the French was opposed in his time by the traitors among his own people and not few spoke of the benefits that French rule brought to them, and supposedly to the German people as a whole. And still, it was not the French counterculture and their revolt against the French monarchy that led him to disapprove of the attempt to destroy his people. The simple reason is that he was a German nationalist and he could not allow a situation where a foreign people dictates the future of his own:

This was rightly perceived by others as a break with Western civilization.

The very idea of merging a pre-existing nation with the modern state to form a nation state is already a divergence from the normative development in Western Europe, where state authority issued a common legal status and thereby defined its people. Furthermore, it is at odds with the fundamental logic of Westianity, where faith and obedience alone is the requirement for membership and those who primarily identify with their ancestral ties are savages, ethnics and also nationes.

So, the task ahead for the German nation is to once again bring about the transformation of our society. Ideally, this would not be a collapse rather than a controlled purification from worthless Western paradigms, but we should be prepared for the possibility that Western control over us persists too long and the annihilative fantasies of our enemies are at least partially fulfilled.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here, but I certainly don't see anything wrong with Arndt's stand against French occupation as a German patriot. The counterculture I was referring to was the more recent hippie one that seeks to destroy Germany and all other Western nations.

The notion that "representative democracy" and "human rights" are the defining characteristics of Western civilization is just meaningless propaganda used by the Allies and Anglosphere. Western thought has produced a variety of political ideologies. Plato was probably the most important figure in laying the foundations of Western thought, and he was certainly no advocate of democracy or equality.

I'm aware that German nationalist thinking has often been at odds with the concept of civilization as opposed to Kultur. I understand why they might want to think this way, but I don't see much practicality to it outside of rhetorical purposes. There was never a serious attempt to cast off Western epistemology from German society.

In fact, I believe Hitler himself said that National Socialist Germany was the inheritor of the Hellenic-Roman legacy. And he supported a form of Christianity. I thus fail to see much of a break with Western civilization. Sure, he wanted a sovereign Germany that could expand its power and sphere of influence, but in this I don't think he was much different than leaders of Britain or America during that era.

So, the task ahead for the German nation is to once again bring about the transformation of our society.
