I think so, yes, though the epicanthic fold may not be as extreme as in certain East-Asians.
Basically there are 3 races in the world :
Mongoloid : east-asians and native-americans
Caucasians : europeans, north-africans and middle-easterners
Negroid : subsaharan Africans
perhaps we should put the aboriginals in the Negroid group, but im not sure.
I don't think aboriginals should be put with negroes; the three-race-model is too broad, I think. I like the five-way-model a bit better; Caucasoid, Mongoloid, Negroid, Capoid, Australoid.Originally Posted by aftermundo
In either case, Amerindians belong in the Mongoloid group.
Yep, the siberian origin of native-american is obvious. Native-americans even cluster with east-asians when it comes to dna from what ive read.

I wouldn't be able to answer this question with any scientific backing...but if, genetically, they are closer to asians then their dark pigmentation is only an evolutionary attribute for survival in the desert-like climate of Australia. Most people would consider Australoids (aboriginals) to be negroes, soley based on their outward skin appearance...black skin=negro...but I have read somewhere that they do not properly fit in the "negro" category. I can't remember where I read that thoughOriginally Posted by Skeptic

May those who love us, love us
And those who don't love us
May God turn their hearts,
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

Australoids are genetically close to east-asians.
Even dravidians are related to Mongoloids.
