'Avatar' "Corniest Movie Ever About White Man’s Need to Lose His Identity"

Cameron’s superficial B-movie tropes pretend philosophical significance. His story’s rampant imperialism and manifest destiny (Giovanni Ribisi plays the heartless industrialist) recalls Vietnam-era revisionist westerns like Soldier Blue, but it’s essentially a sentimental cartoon with a pacifist, naturalist message. Avatar condemns mankind’s plundering and ruin of a metaphorical planet’s ecology and the aboriginals’ way of life. Cameron fashionably denounces the same economic and military system that make his technological extravaganza possible. It’s like condemning NASA—yet joyriding on the Mars Exploration Rover
    ---
Avatar’s going-native F/X fantasy infantilizes Cameron’s technology-infatuated audience; they’ve never read Joseph Conrad on colonialism or feel any compunction about balancing politics and fantasy. There’s even a Busby Berkeley-style tribal dance to divert them. Also, Avatar’s techno-exoticism involves blue cartoon creatures, not brown, black, red, yellow real-world people. It’s the easiest, dumbest escapism imaginable.

I thought it looked pretty cool tell I saw the trailer and got a feel for the plot. I agree with that article, Avatar looks like liberal crap.

Well, i agree, it is the same thing i am against for my land, am i a liberal pacifist if some other land (or even aliens) invade my land and exploit and steal it ?

Here we are even talking about a whole planet, i have not seen the movie but will see it i think beginning of next year.

Avatar & Invictus: Glorifying communism and a communist

    By: Devvy
    December 16, 2009

Millions of Americans go to the box office during the Christmas holiday season. This year, it is expected herds will go see James Cameron's Avatar and Clint Eastwood's Invictus. Not me. I haven't been the movie theater since I saw Pirates of the Carribean (3) back in 2007. Very disappointing as was installment number two. You see, as I wrote many years ago in a column: I don't like what Hollywood sells and so I don't put money in their pocket because I don't 'need' what they call entertainment.

Also, as a personal preference, I don't like all these electronic movies where the art of acting has been lost. Yes, I loved the first three Star Wars. Yes, the first few Star Treks were pretty good, but in the past 20 years, it seems like everything is all special effects. I suppose it's my age. I consider fine films to be "old" ones with talented stars like Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, Burt Lancaster, Steve McQueen, Gregory Peck, Charleton Heston, John Wayne, Glenn Ford, Maureen O'Hara, Angela Lansbury, Ingrid Bergman and so many others. They had to act. Today it's strip off your clothes, jump in bed or state of the art gagetry. But, I stray from my point about Avatar and Invictus.

I have not seen Avatar nor will I, but I have read quite a bit about it. Ted Baeher is an excellent movie critic and has written a powerful statement as to the dangerous message contained in that film: 'Avatar': Pagan, communist, anti-American, insane

Avatar is probably one of the most expensive movies ever made so far and its there to push the "3D-experience" even further, so that the American entertainment industry can make its billions.

This is just the "flagship" of the industry at the moment. Just think about the technique, all the cinemas have to buy for being "3D ready", the possible implications on the longer run for home cinema and the fact, that most people have to go to the movie theatre, even if they usually download movies illegally, to have "the real experience".

Actually I will watch it, I like Cameron, being one of my favourite Anglo-directors together with Peter Jackson and Ridley Scott. When I read about the story, the above mentioned Leftist-Liberal impetus was obvious, yet if you dont like such morals in movies, you have a hard time if you like movies generally speaking.

If you think that propaganda is crap, watch average German soaps and movies produced these days, they are even much worse than the average American production.

Actually there are only exceptional pieces which I would give the rating "politically correct" from my point of view.

"When will White people stop making movies like "Avatar"?"
    ------
She adds that the main mythic story you find in science fiction, generally written by whites, "is going to a foreign culture and colonizing it."

I actually laughed when I heard the dialogue during the trailer about the aliens occupying a piece of land with rich minerals. As if that isn't obvious enough

Cameron on 'Avatar' --'Yes, there will be another.'
The moderator asked if there *would* be an Avatar sequel. To which Cameron answered that the plan had always been to make a trilogy of films. Finally, Cameron actually said it: "Yes, there'll be another
