    Secession and the State Militia

Interesting thoughts on two very valid American traditions and applications in modern times to defend American liberty:

    Secession and the State Militia

    http://www.lewrockwell.com/longcore/longcore12.1.html

Today, I’m going to tread ground upon which many fear to tread by discussing the first two phrases of the Second Amendment.
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states thus: "A Well-Regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the Right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."
Seems to me that we have either ignored or simply missed a very vital component of liberty in our discussions and writings about secession...or about the Second Amendment. That very vital component is the existence and use of force.
No reasonable proponent of state sovereignty wants to propose secession and state nationhood through armed overthrow and insurrection. All of the thought leaders of secession that I have read concentrate on the orderly and lawful methods of secession, and eschew any ideas of military resistance. That’s fine.
But James Madison, John Adams, Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson had a different perspective.
The Framers knew that when tyranny advanced against any state, the state’s last option to resist that tyranny was to take up arms and fight. They had just proven its effectiveness by seceding from Great Britain through the use of state militias."

I hold that secession and possible armed defense of our liberties is unfortunately becoming increasingly likely and necessary as the regime in D.C. becomes increasingly oppressive.
Any free, armed Citizen of a State is part of the militia (not to be confused with the federally-controlled National Guard!)
    Thoughts, fellow lovers of Liberty?

I will go ahead and say that I believe in the rights of states to secede from the Union. The federal government has become too powerful and is not in the best interest of the people.

The Governors of the states that want to secede have every right to defend their states with a armed militia that is not under federal control.

Yes, and it will unfortunately likely become necessary if we wish to remain free men.
"The Tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants", etc.
Secession is a political tradition and mechanism to protect freedom and self-government not just limited to Dixie in the 1860's.

I wish more people would talk about this subject openly. We all know the mainstream media will not talk about it. In fact they like to bury subjects like this as it does not look good for their champion.

Another thing when you talk to uninformed people they look at you like you are some kinda weirdo, conspiracy theorist or something. The Average American does not even know their basic rights as a citizen and that's the way the federal government likes it.
