Yes, I feed the birds year-round. I use only sunflower seeds as they attract the most variety of birds. The cardinals are my favorite as they are so colorful and are here all year.

No because the birds here are pest, too many of them. I used to have seeds on my window but it drew street pigeons, sometimes fighting to get the seeds, and they started to sh*t on my window. They acted just like immigrants, you give them a finger and they bite your hand.

That's why they call them "Flying Rats"
My drunk neighbours have a big pigeon house to which they resort when they have nothing else to eat. There's a large number of pigeons there so if I'd put out bird feed they'd just eat it all and up their numbers so I don't. Other birds which are mostly endangered and in need of food, wouldn't have a chance to get to that food against so many pigeons.

I feed the birds all year round, not just during the winter. My favourites are the corvids, of course, and I have several magpies, jackdaws and crows that follow me around the neighbourhood. I never leave the house without some type of nut or homemade goodies I concoct for them. When large groups of crows follow me, as they tend to do, some folks in the neighbourhood look visibly nervous, dare I say horrified. Perhaps they think I am in league with dark forces? Some birds will even eat straight from my hand, and someone commented that when that happens, it looks like a scene out of Snow White.

But yes, feeding birds is a great joy for me.

What's interesting is that Rudolf Hess applied racial theory to the relationship between crows and seagulls that he had been feeding at Spandau. He described how they kept their distance from each other but respectfully. Both Apollonius and Jesus referenced sparrows in their teachings.

    Yes!

Its fun if you feed them near your window so you get to see birds you never see otherwise.

Yes, we feed them all year long. I love the birds flying around the house and yard.

Yes. We feed the various species of birds and small mammals that inhabit or visit our sanctuary.
