    Lou Dobbs to Quit CNN

    Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose anti-immigration views have made him a TV lightning rod, said Wednesday that he is leaving the cable news channel effective immediately.

    “Some leaders in the media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and engage in constructive problem-solving,” Mr. Dobbs said just after 7 p.m., suggesting that he would remain involved in the civic discourse, but perhaps not on television.

    “I’m considering a number of options and directions,” Mr. Dobbs added.

    Wednesday’s program will be his last on CNN, one of his employees said earlier in the evening.

    Mr. Dobbs’ contract was not set to expire until the end of 2011. He told viewers that CNN had agreed to release him from his contract early.

    Mr. Dobbs informed his staff members of his intentions in a meeting Wednesday afternoon, catching some of the staffers off-guard.

    Well known for his political positions, Mr. Dobbs is an outlier at CNN, which has sought to position itself as a middle ground of sorts in the fractious cable news arena. The CNN employees said Wednesday that they did not know if Mr. Dobbs was moving to another network.

    Mr. Dobbs met with Roger Ailes, the chairman of the Fox News Channel, in September. At the time Mr. Dobbs was viewed as a potential hire for the Fox Business Network. But a Fox spokesperson said Wednesday, “We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.”

    Mr. Dobbs has been with CNN since its founding, save for a two-year stint at a Web site called Space.com. He has evolved over the years from a straight-laced business anchor to an outspoken commentator who rails against illegal immigration and taxpayer bailouts, among other subjects.

    Lately, though, he has saved most of his opinions for his afternoon radio show, which made its debut in March 2008. It is on the radio show that he talked repeatedly about the conspiracy theory claims that President Obama is not a United States citizen. When he mentioned the citizenship issue on CNN over the summer, his bosses were forced to call it a “dead issue.”

    More recently, Mr. Dobbs’ views on immigration provoked a protest by Hispanic groups. Members of the groups complained that CNN was allowing Mr. Dobbs “to spread lies and misinformation about us each night.”

    Last month the New Jersey State Police were called to Mr. Dobbs home to investigate a report of gunfire. Mr. Dobbs suggested that his family had been singled out because of his views on illegal immigration and border security.

    Lou Dobbs has stood out for years at CNN, which is a typical leftist news organization. He has been a major critic of immigration policies for several years, of trade policies, of Congress, Republicans & Democrats, Bush & Obama, blasting the politicians in Washington over a varity of issues, including deficit spending & the eternal war on terror. He has also questioned whether Obama was actually born in Hawaii, since Obama has been reluctant to make the vault copy of his birth registration public. Recently Dobbs's New Jersey home was shot at, apparently over his stance on illegal immigration. Dobbs is the anti-globalist voice, much more agressive then Bill O'Reilly.

    I distrust someone who works so closely with Jewish media (Larry King, Wolf Blitzer... probably more), but at least a popular figure like him can have some influence.

    The only alternative would be Murdoch media, which is just as bad.

    Journalism is one of those professions (in America), such as entertainment, law, medicine etc... in which it is virtually impossible not to associate with Jews as they are so common in certain professions. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't attempt to infiltrate them.

    You posted a thread on the topic before I could. He is a champion of our cause, even though he is married to a mestizo/mexican woman. He's for making English the official language of OUR country, and keeping illegals out. I've been watching him for the past seven years almost every night, and seeing him go is kind of like watching a relative die. I know, that sounds corny, but that's how I feel. On his last broadcast tonight, he mentioned that we can all still listen to him on the radio, and log on to his website.
    In a day or two, the South Africa Sucks website (www.zasucks.com) will also shut down. It's been around for a number of years under a few different names, but the moderator/site master mentioned that he was recently arrested for making racial comments.
    The end of Lou Dobbs Tonight is just proof that the intolerance of Western cultural preservation isn't just a European thing anymore. I will dearly miss Lou, but his dismissal from CNN(he was released from his contract early) has just turned me on to conservative talk radio even more. I've never been a fan of Rush Limbaugh, but now that Lou Dobbs has joined the ranks of conservatives who are now only on talk radio; I will watch CNN much less and listen to conservative radio more.

    I think the powers-that-be wanted him out very badly for him to go abruptly like this. He couldn't even finish out the week. I have to wonder if the White House had anything to do with it as they have recently been trying to marginalize the Fox News Channel - and Dobbs has generally been harsher on certain topics then most Fox commentators with the exception of Glenn Beck.

    Lou Dobbs

    Lou Dobbs will be greatly missed. His positions were right on, and he was the only anchor man going after the real issues, not what he was told to go after. I have always like Rush for that very issue...The truth is what we are after, and Rush gave it to us. Lets all support the people that support the truth. We might get more to join..Bedford

    Dobbs reaches out to latinos

    It seems as I was very wrong about mr. Dobbs unfortunately! Sounds like a hypocrite to me!

    Former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, pondering a future in politics, is trying to wipe away his image as an enemy of Latino immigrants by positioning himself as a champion of that fast-growing ethnic bloc.

    Former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs reaches out to the Latino community, possibly ahead of a political run. WSJ reporter Peter Wallsten says Mr. Dobbs is even for legalizing the undocumented now.

    {Snip}

    Mr. Dobbs is working to repair what a spokesman conceded is a glaring flaw: His reputation for antipathy toward Latino immigrants. In a little-noticed interview Friday, Mr. Dobbs told Spanish-language network Telemundo he now supports a plan to legalize millions of undocumented workers, a stance he long lambasted as an unfair “amnesty.”
    Lou Dobbs, shown appearing on NBC’s ‘Today’ show last week, is working to repair his reputation for antipathy toward Latino immigrants.

    “Whatever you have thought of me in the past, I can tell you right now that I am one of your greatest friends and I mean for us to work together,” he said in a live interview with Telemundo’s Maria Celeste. “I hope that will begin with Maria and me and Telemundo and other media organizations and others in this national debate that we should turn into a solution rather than a continuing debate and factional contest.”

    Mr. Dobbs twice mentioned a possible legalization plan for the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S., saying at one point that “we need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions.”

    Mr. Dobbs couldn’t be reached Tuesday. Spokesman Bob Dilenschneider said Mr. Dobbs draws a distinction between illegal immigrants who have committed crimes since arriving in the U.S. and those who are “living upright, positive and constructive lives” who should be “integrated” into society. He said Mr. Dobbs recognizes the political importance of Latinos and is “smoothing the water and clearing the air.”

    After a career as a broadcaster and Internet entrepreneur, Mr. Dobbs turned himself into a populist firebrand, campaigning against labor outsourcing, free trade and immigration.

    Mr. Dobbs left CNN saying he wanted to become an advocate. Immigration advocates, including Ms. Celeste, had long called for his ouster; critics in particular cite a 2007 report on his show that cited erroneous data suggesting illegal immigrants were tied to a spike in leprosy cases in the U.S. Mr. Dobbs told Ms. Celeste the report was a mistake, and blamed a reporter ad-libbing on the air.

    {Snip}

    Mr. Dobbs’s relationship with Latinos will be crucial if he chooses to run against Sen. Robert Menendez (D., N.J.), the Senate’s lone Hispanic.

    I became worried when I saw his interview on the Daily Show where he came off as very apologetic talking about how the right wing extremists and left wing extremists were controlling the debate leaving middle America stuck inbetween. It seems that he is turning PC in the hopes of winning votes in a possible future run for office. Shameless opportunism at its worst. Putting your faith in any public figure these days seems vain at best.
