    Stuff That Makes You Smile

The "Stuff That Pisses You Off" thread is very active... and that's understandable.

But there's no reason to dwell so much on negativity. Some of us are happy-go-lucky people.

So let's have a thread for stuff that makes you proud, stuff that makes you happy, stuff that makes you know that there are good things in the world.

I'll start with: children -- of whatever age -- that are discovering their family history and cultural identity for the first time. Not everyone is raised with it, and it really makes me smile to see someone eagerly and suddenly discovering that it is cool to find out where you come from, and through that, who you are.

What are some things that make you smile?

I enjoy overcoming challenges in my personal life. Also I like to see people who are the under dog work to meet their goals.

I smile when I hear my canary Petey warbling. He sounds so happy, he makes me happy.

Waking up in the morning and seeing the sunrise. The colours of the sky, the energy of the rising sun.

The birds singing. The birds flying around, especially those birds called "Pica Pica" (awesome look, awesome combination of colours!!! just so pretty!!! )

... but all the nice birdies that are flying around... I just like very much this one, which I see very often around...
Some mornings ago a bird like "Passer domesticus" was just singing at my window, to wake me up... and the next morning a similar bird, if not the same, just entered my room for a few seconds, and then went out and kept singing at the window... That was amazing! And it really made me wake up with a big smile!

Seeing the mountain from my window... seeing the foggy clouds covering the mountain, from time to time...

There is a tree on a small hill, in front of a house, that I used to watch all the spring... such a beautiful tree... it made me smile each time I looked at it!

Hmmm... seeing the rain after a sunny day ... seeing the sun out of the clouds, for a few moments, after some rainy or snowy days (even more wonderful to see the sun over a snowy landscape)... and watching the little and fluffy snow flakes coming down from the sky, when it's snowing!!!! Oh, that's one of the most wonderful things!!!!

Oh, and there are so many other things that make me smile!

Hey, this thread just has too few replies... so I'll come up with more things that make me smile (there are lots), after I see many more replies here... oh, come on, people, you should enjoy all the things around you! Why so few replies here?

Getting out of the city and reminding myself England still exists!

The hill I walk up each morning makes me smile. Bright, vivid greens, an old stone wall following up it's right hand side, trees extending over the road from both sides, birds singing, flying past you at ground level, regularly I see squirrels, sometimes rabbits, a fox frequents the old persons home at the top. A small patch of beauty in what is primarily an urban environment helps keep your hopes up.

I love one of the pubs near my girlfriend's home, too. Sitting along the canal with farm land extending in each direction, kith and kin enjoying themselves under the cross of St. George. Puts a grin on my face each and every time.

Ah, I'm not gonna lie: life is great.
