    Reclaim the South

Scalawags and Carpetbaggers have taken over defining the South. The Old South was Episcopalian and Catholic, mostly Democrat. The only true Southern Republican was Benjamin Harrison, of the Virginia exodus to the Northwest Territory, where his grandfather, William Henry, was Whig. Nevertheless, Fundamentalists and Baptists, among others, are not anything but Yank supremacists, the Unionists who bellow GOP and nothing else. By their denominational affiliation, they declare their absolutist affection for Plymouth Rock and spit on Jamestown. They are Lincolnian to the bone. Those who toe the line to this usurpation are Reconstructionist impostors and hold no respect for the old guard, playing a Cold War mind game for power.

These are the true Southern POTUS:
    Washington, VA-Whig
    Jefferson, VA-D
    Madison, VA-D
    Monroe, VA-D
    Jackson, SC-D
    Harrison, VA-Whig
    Tyler, VA-Whig
    Polk, NC-D
    Taylor, VA-Whig
    Johnson, NC-D
    Harrison, OH-R
    Truman, MO-D
    Johnson, TX-D
    Carter, GA-D
    Clinton, AR-D

Those are all of the POTUS whose paternal lines come from south of the Potomac, the border between CSA and USA. Even Jefferson Davis was Yank because his family was from PA. Nixon, CA-R was the closest Yank to Southern heritage, as his line went to DE.

The Old South was mostly Presbyterian, Baptist & Methodist. Catholics were a very tiny minority except in Lousiana. Even in Maryland (founded as a refuge for English Catholics) they were a small minority. The O'Hara's of "Gone With the Wind" were an exception. Episcopalians were (and are) also a relatively small group but many of the elites belong to that church.

The way you pick out who is Southern & who is not among the POTUSes is arbitary. Jackson's parents were born in Ulster but he is Southern? Lincoln who was born in Kentucky to Virginia born parents is not? I presume that is because his roots go back further to Pennsylvania & Massachusetts? What about Wilson, born in Virginia in 1856, spent the Civil War years & reconstruction in Georgia & the Carolinas. Truman is Southern? I'm pretty sure the Trumans were in New England in the colonial era & Truman spent his nearly entire life (when he wasn't in Washington) near Kansas City. That's the Midwest.

Southerner Truman was an integrationist (integrated the Armed Forces by executive order). Lyndon Johnson was very progressive on social issues, signing the Civil Rights Act & the Immigration Reform Act of 1965. Carter & Clinton were two very liberal presidents on social & racial issues. Southerners have been among the worst race traitors.

The secondary religious establishment of the South was Anglicanism, because it had earlier been Catholicism, just as the North had Congregationalism official and Quakerism the next best thing (it seems as though the official American religion since Independence has been Quakerism). Of course, the boundaries shifted from the Mason-Dixon to Potomac during the War, so Catholicism--like Maryland--came to be seen as Northern, but this didn't have an effect upon Anglican Virginia. Presbyterians were activist traitors of the colonial establishment, just as they were in Britain. They were the ones who became the Scalawags of Reconstruction and fought secession all throughout the War from the Appalachian highlands, while Yank Baptist missionaries converted the masses of poor and famished victims of Yankeedom. Methodism was the wedge which demoralized Anglicans in the South, courted by the Congregationalists and in common with Presbyterians, aimed at the destruction of the Episcopal Church. Identification of Presidents is based upon the first known location of their families, or even if they were first born of their families, in the US. Thus, Jackson was Southern. I read that Truman was of a Southern family. Can you provide me a reference to Yank origins for the Trumans? Wilson's family began in Ohio, after coming there, likely through a Yank port, from Ireland. It goes without saying that Lincoln was Yank, but Fremont was Southern and would have been a better choice.

By the way, the South's natural diversity shouldn't be debased, but accepted for what it is, or else that's just more inane anti-Americanism, for America was born down South. Even before Elizabeth had Virginia (and New England, in the form of Oregon's New Albion) founded, Mary was Queen of New Spain, so there is a part of our history that fundamentalists wouldn't like us to know. Of course, we know that Henry VIII and Edward VI, as well as Jane, did not concern themselves with any colonial projects beyond that which Henry VII had commissioned through John Cabot in Newfoundland--another forgotten element of our history. England was allied to the country which sent Columbus, so there is nothing wrong in Mexican-American relations. To preserve Germanic heritage, one does not have to bash non-Germanic heritage. One might even recognize the Germanic heritage in others, such as the Visigoths.

Umm, the Catholic argument only is valid for Maryland and Louisiana.

Yup. My mother's side of the family is almost entirely descended from a migration of Catholics from Maryland that settled in Kentucky in the 1780's. They're Catholic to this day.
My paternal ancestors were mostly dyed-in-the-wool Baptists and Methodists that settled in Ky. from Virginia and North Carolina.

Neither Catholics nor Democrats are what they used to be. The mainstream of both have now aligned themselves with the enemies of the Untied States, ie liberals and non-whites. Most of my ancestors were Catholics and when I see the pro-illegal alien rhetoric from the Church, I'm very glad I was never baptized as one.

Ah yes, I am familiar with that one exception in Kentucky. My paternal great-grandfather's brother married a woman with the maiden name of "Bard." Should ring a bell.

I don't think Antebellum America can be restored in either North or South, but they both mean a lot to me.
