    Do You Read Long Posts?

I find long posts tiresome, especially after a day of many news reading. If the post is written without space between paragraphs, I find it even more tiresome. The exception is if they are replying to quotes of another member. It's easier to read because of the breaks. I think it's preferable if people keep it short and to the point than write novels. What about you?

It depends, I'm more likely to read (and write) long posts on Skadi then on other forums
If it's a topic I'm interested in, I'm more likely to read it.
Also, if it's a poster who I think has something interesting to say (and the opposite, I run straight over posters who use a lot of words to say little ).
Although often I end up bookmarking threads saying 'I'm not reading all that now but I want to so I'll read it later' and never get round to it...
My main problem is getting started in threads which involves reading and writing long posts, and then running out of energy after a few replies and never getting round to continuing it; but it's good to have somewhere to be able to do that in the first place

Often I have come across a post similar to what you have described. Sometimes I find it easier to print it out on a piece of paper and then read it. For some reason this makes it more tolerable for me to read.
Usually if the poster can catch my attention with the first sentence then most of the time I can expect the rest of the post to be worth reading. I confess that a lot of times I have stopped reading a post because the first few sentences bored me.
Also, If the post is in response to something that I wrote myself then out of courtesy I will read all of it and respond if neccesary, even if I find it tedious.

Me too, if the reply comes when I'm online or if the thread is still active and recent when I return, or in subscribed threads. But otherwise sometimes I totally forget about it. Does it happen to anyone else?

Depends on what it's about, but i find it hard to read lengthy pieces online, but if it's well written i definitely will take the time to read it....

If I have been following a particular topic for a long time, I usually read even the longest posts. If it's a thread I haven't been following, or if it is not in reply to something I have said, I am unlikely to take the time to read all of it.

I think proper formatting and getting straight to the point are key here.

I read long post, if I am interested. I write long post if I feel my opinion would be valuable. I also create long post, if I feel that any information is either too interesting or valuable too ignore. I will also post a lot of outside information from composite sources, in order to support my statements. Both reading and posting also depends on how tired I am, or whether I have the time or not.
