Cool Not sure if i'm supposed to be here...

    hi.

i couldn't find an introduction section, so i hope this is the right forum to post this question.
the thing is, i'm sure i don't share the majority of your views regarding politics and race. i'm unsure about politics, but i do know it's more left than right... anyway. my plan is not to troll or to be a pain in the ass, i joined here cause i found your sections about anthropology and race interesting. on another forum i'm a member of, the topic of races came up, and it was kind of hard to find out from anybody how many different races there are, and what the differences are.
funny thing, most ppl seemed to be in this state of denial saying there are no races and that we're all the same.
i'm of the oppinion that just because there are differences, that doesn't automatically mean that some are superiour to others. however, it was impossible to find out about these differences among the voices of "it's only skin color" and "everyone's the same inside". kind of felt like banging my head against a wall.

i've never actually seen a place where the topic is discussed as openly as it is here. soooo... what i want to know, basically, is this: do you mind having non-racists in your forum?
i see this as your place, and i'm a guest, and if my being here offends you, then i'd revoke my membership.

well, as long as you want to preserve your culture and race, you are welcome, at least in my opinion. if you are racist or not, that's really your deal. anyway, i guess many people sign in just for the anthropological data, and not even half of them will do this question, so at least you were humble and deserve some credit for that!

Ummm ... if you lost orientation, kind of. There is also a thread for new members to introduce themselves but it's a bit hidden.

the thing is, i'm sure i don't share the majority of your views regarding politics and race.
Actually, there are almost as many different views on politics and race here, as there are members.

... i'm unsure about politics, but i do know it's more left than right... anyway.
    "Left" defined as ... ?

There is some excellent information here. Start with the "Sticky" threads in Physical Anthropology, and there is always the search engine, too.

... funny thing, most ppl seemed to be in this state of denial saying there are no races and that we're all the same.
This seems to be the politically correct view nowadays, yes.

i'm of the oppinion that just because there are differences, that doesn't automatically mean that some are superiour to others.
Yup, there is actually no general superiority amongst biological groups, neither races nor species (other than survival, maybe). Eagles fly and see better than human beings, and human beings think better. But who is to say the one is in general and over all superior to the other without defining the criteria?

Similarly, blacks are better short-distance runners than whites (definitely at the extreme: the fastest of the group; maybe also on average, I've never seen data about it), and whites excel in visual-spatial tasks. Thus, one can legitimately compare some quantifiable data, and then conclude that group A is better than (superior to) group B in this and that field (on average, or concerning the median or the extremities). But one should never lose sight that one only compares an aspect of the whole.

There is no general biological superiority. Even cockroaches are pretty superior to human beings in many aspects.

... however, it was impossible to find out about these differences among the voices of "it's only skin color"
In fact, color is, considered in isolation, the least significant factor to distinguish races.

... and "everyone's the same inside". kind of felt like banging my head against a wall.
What is not allowed to be true, can't be true.

Not all. Most members are actually no racists in the common comprehension of the term. They would describe themselves rather as "racially conscious" or "racialists", i. e. they acknowledge race as a biological reality and wish to preserve the racial pluralism; in particular the Europid race which is the most endangered.

i see this as your place, and i'm a guest, and if my being here offends you, then i'd revoke my membership.
Not at all. We are glad that you are here. Welcome to Skadi Forum.

I'm no racist, nor do I consider myself to be superior to anyone.

If you don't feel welcome here, then I don't know if I should either.

There are many interesting articles and posts about history and anthropology which don't have anything to do with 'racism'.

thanks. this is the kind of information i'm looking for. and why chinese people can't drink milk. and looooaaads of other stuff. i'll be looking in those forums.

which means... one shouldn't generalise and keep in mind that there are always exeptions? in that case i agree.
