    The Netherlands Tightens Immigration Laws

The Dutch government wants to tighten up the regulations for families of immigrants wanting to move to the country to join the latter once more. They only want to let in "people who are good for the economy", migration expert and senator for the Greens in the first chamber of the parliament Tineke Strik writes in the daily Trouw: "But to select people according to their chances on the job market, this is done with migrant workers and not with the partners and children of Dutch citizens. By tightening the rules with reference to the abominable practice of forced marriages the ministers appear to be trying to forestall their opponents. But demagogy has never solved any problems. … Do [Integration Minister Eberhard] van der Laan and [State Secretary for Justice Nebahat] Albayrak really believe they can take the wind out of [right-wing populist Geert] Wilders' sails by closing the borders even more? The opposite is the case. By moving towards him like this they are effectively allowing Wilders to rule the country with his nine mandates."

Nonsense, they will not close it even 0.00001%

They have said this many times the last few years but immigration has only grown bigger.

Well said. Those Dutch regents have a reputation on that field to live up to.
It s high treason without regards for our native Dutch and our forefathers.

Balkenende even proclaimed Fortuyn program considering this has been put in to practice. Remind me, was there a total stop of immigration during the Balkende cabinets?

There is a "large, gaping gap" between policy and reality.. In Holland there is for certain.

I have got no hope for the US, since their policies are not in line with reality, even less than the Northern European countries, unfortunately.

You sure are right about that! :thumb down Everyday more Mexicans come into our Country, legally & illegally, and not only act like they own the place, but mistreat & insult our women. Don't get me wrong, there are some Mexicans, that I can get along with, but the fact of the matter is, is that they are totally taking advantage of the United States' extremely lenient stance on immigration. It also bother me, that when I go on vacation to another country, I always make the effort to comply with that area's behavioral standards and customs. We have Mexicans, that have lived & worked in our country for years, and still don't make the effort to live by our standards.

Mexico represents the largest source of immigration to the United States. Of the 32.5 million foreign born covered in the March 2002 CPS, 9.8 million or 30 percent were from Mexico; the next largest source, the Philippines, accounted for only one-seventh as many at 1.4 million. The rest of Latin America accounted for 7.3 million or 23 percent. Asian immigrants, at 8.5 million, made up 26 percent of the total foreign-born population. There were 5.4 million foreign born from Europe and Canada, accounting for 17 percent of all immigrants. Africa and the remaining countries, at 1.4 million, made up four percent of all foreign born. (see maps of foreign born in the United States)
