    I selected "Other".

I think objective thinkers can predict future world events with a remarkable degree of accuracy. They do this by analyzing recent history in combination with current events; then simply put 2&2 together.

For example, it hardly required a prophetic sage to determine that the first war with Iraq would lead to a second war with Iraq. Or that the mess in the middle east would spread to western nations.
“A dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot.” Robert A. Heinlein

My previous answer was posted before the forum was reorganized. So I am going to give a new answer. It is only relatively recently that research has been done to improve the forecasting ability. What was found is that forecasters and futurists are hardly held accountable and only remind others of the their successful guesses. And also that professional ones where almost never held accountable. What IARPA (a DARPA-like organization for the US intelligence agencies) has found out that several things are needed to create successful forecasters. One of those is that they have to give a rating of how confident they are and an honest discussion about their reasons in a atmosphere that discourages groupthink (the potential good kind of diversity, in contrast to the literally superficial one promoted by the left and meekly accepted by the centre right). If one wants to learn more about it I can recommend this book
The sense of honor is of so fine and delicate a nature that
it is only to be met with in minds which are naturally noble or
cultivated by good examples and a refined education.
    - Sir Richard Steele

I predict a war in the middle east.
No PhD required, just read the Scriptures.
We all can predict more wars, more earthquakes, more tournedos etc....
    except we don't know when.........

With sufficient knowledge anyone can predict the future. Actual prophecy is a different matter.
