It's sad to see Aryans arguing over small details. Focus on the ETERNAL ENEMY instead! :finger:

    Bulldog,

You're a fool or an ignorant. The Americans fight well only when they have the best equipment and the strongest firepower; the British are somewhat better soldiers, but will crack when up against determined opposition. History proves this. Just as it proves that in the 20th century the Germans have proven to be consistently the best soldiers because they were constantly fighting against the odds and emerged on top many times until the enemy's superiority become crushing.

The Americans generally have the best equipment and strongest firepower in any battle they're involved in. Its their main, some would say only, strength.

The British have the best military record of any country in modern times, including inflicting higher casualties on the German forces they faced than they took in return. What are you talking about cracking up?

"Just as it proves that in the 20th century the Germans have proven to be consistently the best soldiers because they were constantly fighting against the odds and emerged on top many times until the enemy's superiority become crushing."

Hence they lose a lot. You do not "emerge on top" by being "crushed" by a "superior" enemy. The German forces undeniably fought well, but strategy is at least as important as bravery. The main point, the only point, in fighting a war is to win it. If you lose, you lose, regardless of why. The world is not fair.

The qualities that make a good warrior are not overall campaign success. That generally comes more from the military command/staff officers and who they can get to supply their weaponry etc etc. What I think defines a superior warrior:
    1. Absolute preparation and virtual expectation of dying on the battlefield. In his heart, perhaps, he may even want this.
    2. Absolute, or at least strong, belief in the moral sanctity of the cause for which he is fighting.
    3. A certain character aspect that allows one to continually put fear at the back of the mind. This is not the same as being emotionally frigid. Fear is very useful in producing adrenalin - important in allowing fast responses to life or death situations. This fear/adrenalin must be controlled.
    4. The ability to channel hate toward the enemy. One must dehumanise them in one's own mind. See them as numbers or 'notches on the rifle.' This is necessary because we are not naturally hardwired to kill people who have done us no direct, personal harm. This is part of ‘psyching oneself up’ to do what one doesn’t really want to do.
    5. Overall intelligence and battlefield aptitude.
    6. Physical endurance/strength.

Now, which group of soldiers had the highest number of these qualities in the highest percentage of its ordinary fighting men? From Triskel’s list, I’m inclined to nominate the Romans in their heyday. ‘For the glory of Rome’ must have been an idea that truly stirred the hearts of men.

Regarding the debate about the best in WWII, I would think the individual soldiers who made up the SS were the best warriors on average. Points 2, 4, 5 and 6 are clearly very evident in the elite, volunteer SS. I also think 3 is a typically Nordic or (at least culturally Germanic) characteristic.

I don’t know if this counts, but today the best warriors are far and away the special and elite forces of western nations. (The Russian Spetsnaz were amazing, but have been almost underfunded out of existence.) The SAS, SEALS, Delta Force etc are the BEST OF THE BEST. They certainly are selected to, and do, exemplify points 3, 5 and 6 more than any other group in history.

Lastly, I think the French Foreign Legionnaires deserve an honourable mention. They seem to exhibit point 1 to an to an exceptional degree. Point 6 is also well-displayed.

rofl. Personally I think the Australian troops that fought in Greece, as well as the Australia/New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) fighters in Turkey in 1916. Otherwise go the Spartans.
All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream at night, in the dusky recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams, with open eyes, to make it possible.

I believe that it was the great Polish Hussaria (heavy cavalry - winged horsemen) of the 17th Centuary.
