Swedes Fall for Danes

Cross-border marriages between Danes and Swedes are flourishing as never before. The number of Danish-Swedish matches have more than doubled in the last decade, according to new figures.

Some 318 Danes married Swedes in 2006. In 1996 there were only 153 marriages between citizens of the neighbouring countries, according to Statistics Sweden.

The figures show that it is much more common for Swedish women to fall for Danish men than for Danish women to fall for Swedish men. In nearly 200 of the couples marrying last year, the male half of the couple was from the other side of Öresund, according to the Sydsvenskan newspaper.

The explanation for the increase in cross-border romantic attachments is that young Danes are invading southern Sweden in search of jobs and homes, according to demographer Christian Skarman.

"According to the statistics it is Danes who are moving to Sweden, not the other way round. Of these, the vast majority are men aged between 25 to 35, many of them single. This is the most natural explanation for the number of marriages between inhabitants of the Öresund region," Skarman told Sydsvenskan.

Well I guess its better than falling for Africans, keep it up, I would say.

Yes, but are these 'Swedes' or Swedish Nationals? Sadly one must make the distinction these days. Are these cross border love matches involving Nord on Nord romance, or is this statistic the result of Muslims in Denmark trading their 8 year old daughters with Muslims in Sweden in arranged marriages or the like?

Yes. Danes are admirably less liberal than those frustrating Swedes, however, Norway is still being settled by the alien horde as is the rest of Europe. And I am sure, even in Norway, there are plenty of fallen women who pair up with Negroes and Asians; and plenty of men who attempt to bring back souvenir wives from their vacations on PI PI island.

This reminds me another story i read a year or 2 back about Swedish girls dating foreign men, in this case English.

We may have lost the football and the tennis, but British guys look set to score in the field of love with some of our European counterparts this year according to Match.com's summer love survey of more than 4,000 of its members across Europe.

It turns out that Swedish women would rather date a Brit than a man of any other nationality. Thirty nine per cent of Swedish women favoured British guys in the survey, even preferring them to hot-blooded and fiery Latin lovers from Southern Europe.

And the feeling was reciprocated. More one in three British men said they want to date Swedish women because they're better looking, take relationships seriously and are more 'open minded'.

Throw in a few Germans and some Dutch, and it looks like those Swedish girls could be breeding the beginnings of a new pan-Germanic race of Ubermensch.

At first I thought this an insult to the English. I would prefer the phrase: "dating kindred Englishmen" to "dating foreign men." lol

I wonder if this is because of Sweden's liberal socialist society? Such a society encourages behavior patterns and attitudes that women generally do not find attractive in men. Danes and Englishmen are very closely related to Swedes, it is good that Swedish women are going after them, and not latins or Africans.

Danes and Englishmen are very closely related to Swedes, it is good that Swedish women are going after them, and not latins or Africans.

I wish i could say. I know quite a few Swedes, but they are overwhelmingly from the nationalist movement, or the viking-rock music scene, and they certainly aren't effeminate or weak. But i doubt they're particularly representative of Swedish society as a whole, which is a shame.

Although settling with English and Danish men is not the worst thing in the world (as an Englishman i obviously can't say that ) it would be a hell of a shame if young Swedish men really were allowing themselves to be pushed aside in the race for children simply in order to fit in with a transient liberal trend.
