Does Your Job Correspond with Your Worldview?

Do you enjoy your job? Is it compatible with your beliefs? Or do you just do it purely because of need and money? Do you have to compromise your views to get ahead at your job (like support or utter politically correct stances)?

My job doesn't have much to do with my world view, it's just for the money. I'd like to do something else, but at the moment there are no better options, and to risk starting my own projects I can't do while having a child to raise.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Right now I can't afford to turn down any job, because I'm trying to put myself through school. My job right now is at odds with a lot of my beliefs, and I'm pretty ashamed of it, but I need money and because I'm white I'm not getting anything from the government (Which I'm against anyway, but I think I need it more than the blacks who mooch off of it). There's just no way out of it.

I suppose I am lucky, as I do not need to work while attending school. My family has enough money and the government provides me with funds for education (not exactly giving it away for me, it takes more effort than it should compared to Indians/immigrants I see getting welfare). I do not really see any shame in getting a moderate amount of money from the government, as I will obviously end up paying much more back to them than I received.

Also if you need money to raise children or get an education, do not be afraid to take government money. If you do not take it, some worthless idiot will. Make good use of the resources available.

And just curious... what are the jobs you two have?

Currently, I am a full-time student and I'm living with my parents, so I do not have a job, as I do not have time nor a particular need for one. The jobs I have previously held did not clash with any of my political views. They were mostly just customer service positions (except for telemarketing *shudders*).

I'm getting enough money that all I need to make myself is $1000 per semester, but I don't feel like taking out a loan so I'm working for that. Unfortunately, I'm stuck dealing with every piece of shit at a certain store that can be found in just about every American town, if you know what I mean. I'm looking for an on-campus job right now, though.

I feel I am very lucky that I do what I love. Here in America we still have some freedom of choice. Although being a Artist Blacksmith can be very unstable at times you learn to put back for the slow times.
When you do something you love it is not a job or work. It becomes who you are.

There is no way it conflicts with my beliefs and only strengthens them.
