Hallo from Stayermark!

Hallo guys, my nick name is Demien ( acualy that is my sons name, yea well... ) and i come from a small, acualy a tiny country located betwen Austria, Hungary and Slovenia ( who claimes the autority over us ) called Stayermark, i am a german austrian nationality since bouth of my parents come from this germanic nations, any way i am a writher, pretty famous in Slovenia and hopfully this will all change this september when my first book will be published in Germany !
I am steal little confused abouth this forum since i dont realy know how it works, what are the maine topics, etc but i believe it is about big germanic rase where we all come from and that is enough for me to join you guys, since i believe we have to do something for us, to preserve us as a big nation we are, spread all over the world, many of us dont even speak german anymore and i found that sade, very sade....

I believe that this is enough for my first post but i will participate more after i will found out what is what!

Something puzzles me though, I've never heard of a country called "Stayermark". Do you mean you are from Lower Styria (Untersteiermark), a region in today's Slovenia?

Welcome here, Demien, it's nice to see a new member from the German enclaves. Maybe you could tell us a little bit more about the German heritage in your region. Do the peoples there still speak German or have they been 'slavicised'? Is there a tendency towards separatism or independence in the region, or maybe a reunion with Austria's Styria? I'm curious, so I'm looking forward to your contributions.

Welcome to Skadi, Demien! You're actually one of the 2,000-odd Germans left in Lower Styria, you are saying? That's amazing, and refreshing ... my great-great-gran was a German from Marburg, though she left long before the unrightful placement of the area with what would in due course become Yugoslavia (and later Slovenia).

I hear that due to Tito's repressions and genocide of the German population by the Partisans, there's not too much left of what was once a sizeable enough group in at large continuous settlement; not to forget that even the Slovene capital Laibach was settled by Bavarian settlers in the course of German "Ostsiedlung" (well -ish), producing many notable persons of largely German descent including Nobel Laureate Fritz Pregl.

Hope you like it here, and it'd be very refreshing to hear about issues especially connected with the heritage of Germans in nowadays Slovenia, even though I gather from your profile that you are now resident in Vienna?
