It's probably a fair assessment. The general rule with native English speakers tends to be that they expect everybody else to speak English while they don't feel the need to learn other languages. Of course some do make the effort but the majority don't.
The way things are going I wonder if there are any Afrikaans Universities left or have they all been converted into "dual / triple / whatever medium" institutions by now, with Afrikaans to be scrapped completely in the near future?
