For me the main issue is not a question to eat horse meat as such. It is a question to eat horse (meat) you have known well/shared a lot together. Some salami and metworst products (produced outside of Finland) can incl. some horse meat.

Well that would fall under the honorary human part. Since emotionally that how you would feel about the animal. I referred to pets, since that is the most common groups of animals to be receive such a status.

2013 there was a scandal in EU as DNA tests showed that some cow meats included horse meat. Did't happen here....

I remember it. Part of why companies did it was because horse meat is cheaper then cow meat.
