According to Wikipedia: Women, for whom military service is voluntary, numbered 1,050: less than 1% of the total, but 25% of career soldiers.

Does not apply to the pontifical Swiss Guard. The Swiss guard is the de facto military of the Vatican and the only relation with the Swiss military is that its recruits must have completed basic training with the Swiss armed forces. For the rest they must also be single, Catholic and for the time being male.
The sense of honor is of so fine and delicate a nature that
it is only to be met with in minds which are naturally noble or
cultivated by good examples and a refined education.
