I suppose it beats them reporting that they were a representation of Nazi intentions in the Holocaust.

I did think that it was quite a nice story though. They were originally bred with good intentions to bring back an ancient breed and I'm glad that their results have somehow managed to survive this long. I would be pleased to see them roaming the hillsides near where I live.

Basically the Auroch is the ancient cow that is depicted in mythology and such. It was the primary ancestor of modern cows, but is since extinct. It was larger and stronger than modern cows.

They have successfully recreated many extinct ancient breeds through selective breeding. It's called breeding back. Basically you take some modern cows and keep selecting the ones that look most like the desired ancestor. Over many generation you can arrive at pretty much a duplicate of this ideal.

Interestingly some wild horses have done this on their own reverting back to the markings and characteristics of an extinct wild horse.

This actually is what the Nazis wanted to do with humans. Supposedly there was a pure Nordic race in the past which since has been mixed. Through selective breeding of their modern descendants we can resurect this old superior race (or even a slightly improved form of it).

They did some interesting stuff with the American Chestnut as well. The American chestnut was basically whiped out by chestnut blight. Yet the Asian chestnut which is a smaller chestnut with larger leaves and fruit and a bit different characteristics is immune to chestnut blight. They were able to cross them. Then expose them all to chestnut blight. Then the survivors are crossed again with the American chestnut. All are exposed to the blight, the survivors crossed with the American Chestnut etc. Towards the end they start throwing out the ones that look less American. You have to make many offspring to find the few that work, but in the end they had a tree that was 1/64 chinese chestnut, but showed 100% traits of the American tree yet was immune to the blight. Now there is hope to bring back these trees. There are also several mixed bred versions which are popular. Anyway this proves under controlled circumstances you can extract desirable traits from various ancestors.

America used to be covered with chestnut trees and now they are basically extinct exept in a lab so I actually want to buy me some of these new immune chestnuts when I get some land.

This is probably your best post on skadi forum so far in my opinion.

The topic is indeed relevant in the NS/Germanic Preservation area. The idea that whites have become domesticated in a sense and have lost ties to our oath-bound & war-like nature. Obesity, immigration and mass miscegenation etc are ruining what took us thousands of years to achieve.
