Although the word "Commando" was wrongly used to describe all Boer soldiers, a commando was a unit formed from a particular district. None of the units was organized in regular companies, battalions or squadrons. The Boer commandos were individualists who were difficult to control, resented formal discipline or orders, and earned a British jibe that"every Boer was his own general".

    Amusing video, Grimminger. Excellent work.

Australia has not performed well in this year's Rugby World Cup. We have been in the doldrums in rugby for years now. We have only won 3 out of the last 15 matches. So sad!

I know! We get the girls in the Lynx ad to play for us! If we did that, we'd win something, I'm sure.

Well done to the Kiwis for beating France yesterday, and thus ensuring that the Rugby World Cup remains in Germanic hands

    Rugby Union and Cricket.

Thanks to the All Blacks, I can lift my head high now for 4 years. What a feeling.

Since my arrival in Oz, I'm hooked on to Rugby League as well - Broncos in League

    and Reds in Union.

I love gymnastics and the best of all, surfing, which I consider to be poetry in motion. I just love the sea and everything around it. Good company, BBQ.....

Sorry, its supposed to be spectator sport.

Well SA flogged Oz lastnight in the second ODI after they lost via D&L mothod the first game. 2 T20's ended one a piece, 3 ODI two a piece Durban to come, and two tests still to play.

SA sport is in such a bad state at the moment I cannot believe that OZ lost lastnight... anyhow it was pure luck that Oz beat SA in the world Cup as Bryce was shocking to say the very least, even craig Joubert is recieving hate mail from france, the french went as far as too edited his wiki page to read thief...

Here are some lookalikes from the World Cup:

My Personal favorite is Father Jack.

NZ born Maori Quade Cooper was hopeless for Australia

The Springboks were more dominating and the stats reflected it in our game, but what counts most is the score!

Jonny Wilkinson showed the world that a few years ago:

Our beauty is our power, our strength. We can’t allow them to change us, to lessen us. I will never grant them that satisfaction, and neither should you!

So they say however what matters more is proper application of the laws, the only reason there is so much confusion arount the ruck is because it allows for the minipulation of the results, rugby has become a too big a part of global interaction so as to leave the outcome to chance, we can even see it in our domestic championship not that Oz has a domestic comp but yes that is the reality according to me.

    Baseball, baseball, and more baseball

Brought up into the sport and love it to no end. Still suffering a broken heart from the Phillies recent elimination.

I also follow american football and gamble in a few fantasy leagues with my friends. Sometimes I regret my parents not allowing me to get into it as a youngster, I think I would've made a good quarterback. Now I spend my days picking apart defenses in the backyard.

We're big on hockey in my household. NHL, AHL, an international game if we can catch one. We love all winter sports really and we are usually glued to the TV during the Winter Olympics. I really enjoy watching curling, probably as it was one of my father's favorite sports.

I'm also a big boxing and wrestling fan (having done both), although the wife doesn't enjoy either. It doesn't help that the quality of boxing has tanked in the last 15-20 years and that the exposure for wrestling is incredibly limited. To find an NCAA tournament or high school meet you have to get extremely lucky on channels like ESPN2.

I personally cannot stand the "big three" of American sports: football, basketball, and baseball. I find baseball and football both slow paced and incredibly dull. Basketball never appealed to me on a purely athletic level and I don't know how any self respecting man can enjoy it with the current crop of players in the NBA (same with the NFL and MLB).

I am trying to get into soccer although it has been a slow start. I conceptually like the idea of the game but I have trouble catching one in full and I'm fairly ignorant to the rules.

Icehockey, the one and only real sport, apart from heavy weight boxing and motorsport. Though I don't care much for regional hockey, it's only interesting with world cup and olympics.

I'm currently following the IIHF World Cup where Sweden has won four games in a row, and on friday they're meeting the giant - Russia. Interesting times! Denmark is unfortunately not doing very well, but that was also expected.
