Every culture has a different rules, which constitute as manners. That said, if you are not sure how to conduct yourself, in a different environment is to simply just keep conversation minimal, show common sense & courtesy, and don't do anything gross or use profanity.

No, I am not very well-mannered.

I open doors for women, offer my seat to old people, eat my chicken with knife and fork even if nobody around me does so and use 'high language' but there are sooo many unpleasant situations I could avoid if I would behaved better. Just a few hours ago, two girls in class talked about how rainy and bad the weather is and what negative effect this has on their mood. I just said 'Girl, as long as our houses still stand and your family is alive, there is no reason to complain.' This led to a really nice conversation. Everything was fine. But at the end of the lesson she said to our teacher she will not be able to visit the next lesson for she is going to her Grandfather's funeral - I immediately thought my statement must have sound very heartless. I felt like an ass.
There is this German saying 'Er tritt von einem Fettnäpfchen ins andere.' - that's pretty much me.

Also, I would not know how to eat in high class restaurants. I would not know which fork I have to use or how I am supposed to eat a lobster etc.

I really try to look well-mannered but I fail very often. Fortunately I live in an environment that is even less mannered than I am so that I am not really falling out. Whenever there is a bigger family meeting it ends up in shouting all over the table which I find very embarrassing. But then again, I have been to Sicily and seen that we appear very civilized compared to those Italian family meetings.
The Indians did not stop the flood of immigrants - today they live in reservations.

Yes, I consider myself a very chivalrous person. Depending on the situation that is.

I have some manners and etiquette but it's really just the common sense ones if you know what I mean.
I don't know all these complicated things like which spoons to use and when to enter the restaurant, I don't wait for a man to pull my chair...

Manners are always necessary, etiquette is not always necessary. Etiquette is rooted in manners so manners are necessary if you want to learn etiquette.

Manners, courtesy and politeness have always been very important to my mother, who is English, and she tried to instill these principles in me, too. My mother was also extremely intent on teaching me ladylike behaviour, and she was very Victorian in her sensibilities and mindset. I do think manners and certain social niceties are necessary, and I suppose I am well-mannered to some extent, although there is always room for improvement. I don't purposely seek to be rude in social situations, and if I do cause offense, it's usually a result of being completely oblivious or unaware.
'Well, what are you?" said the Pigeon. "I can see you're trying to invent something!" "I-I'm a little girl," said Alice, rather doubtfully. She found herself at last in a beautiful garden, among the bright flower-beds and the cool fountains.

    Yes. As a matter-of-fact, I am well-mannered.

That is, until some jerk pisses me off!

I eat pizza with my hands. My Mom uses a knife and fork.
