I expect it to be a mainly "Southern" thing, in practice this would often mean "Mixed Germanic with majority English ancestry", which is often true enough for many Southerners. Often enough, they are also just "English with small other bits" or "pred. English". That's at least how it is to be interpreted IMHO.

Yes, mainly 'anglo-celtic' people in the south. For whatever reason, they aren't into heritage as much as the rest of the country, and may not know for the most part, but most last names in that region originate from the British Isles, although some Germans did move there and many of these 'Anglicized' their names.

I should say anyone that is of wholly Europid descend should be allowed to be an American. Because America was built by Europid settlers, not by any other races.

It would have been stupid to limit immigration in any major way in the past because we had so much empty land. Now days its a different story.

I see the United States as too big a territory to be culturally/ethnically homogenous. At best each state would have its own regional characteristics.

More or less it wouldn't be possible unless you switched from national citizenship to state citizenship and then controlled immigration to each state, with the obvious biggest preference towards people from other American states. Like Japan people from other states will be permitted to visit and pass through, but if they live there for so many years they will be asked to leave and they wont be allowed to buy property or anything of the sort without state citizenship. Though with national citizenship you can travel freely whereever you please. Many states like in the midwest though may be able to have a common citizenship since they are ethnically similar and not densly populated nor probably ever will be given the frigid temperatures, natural disasters etc. prone to those areas.

New York could remain its own mixture of Jews, Italians, Irish and every other race. Multicultural in other words. Some state in the south could be given toward black settlement though it would likely need a lot of mixed race individuals to keep it floating so even those with a drop of black would be considered black in this case. There they can celebrate their own culture and people without the interference of others and have a place where they feel like they belong. Probably louisianna or something. California would be home to a mix of Caucasion, Asian, and Native groups as there are already a great deal of Asian/white mixes there. The Northwest would be an Aryan area (mixed european). Midwest would be Germanic including Irish for the most part. Some small areas of the East Coast could be exclusively English, such as Maine. The hispanics, south american etc. could go to the aptly named new mexico, though whites and such may live in the cities of new mexico. A few multicultural cities and native reservations dispersed here and there. Probably the most realistic scenario.

there would be a great deal of overlap. An English citizen in main could for example transfer to a Germanic area in the midwest, but not the other way around. Yet this works because the english area is smaller. Other areas could be dedicated to the new "American" ethnicities that pop up.

Probably the best way to acheive it would be a given state with the exeption of certain areas like aforementioned cities or reservations would dedicate itself to one particular heritage. Teach that heritage in school, favor that heritage in immigration, pay people who are not of that heritage to move out to an area of the country where they belong or go to the areas in the city designated for them though no forceful acts on them. That would be a good way to preserve certain unique folk and culture and give people a place where they feel welcome and at home.

Generally a cultural change would have to take place and people would have to do most of it on their own through their own decisions and not that of the government. The lack of support for such ideals is why it wont work.

I believe the only persons who can be true Americans are WASPs and those who the WASPs first decided should be allowed on American soil and considered their kin. That is Germanics.

I'm in favor of re-establishing statutes similar to the Immigration Act of 1924 or the White Australia policy.

I think anyone of native European ancestry should be eligible for U.S. citizenship; if this is what they desired. The U.S.A. is a Western nation in America, and not of exclusively Northern European much less English traditions only, though England (after the Glorious Revolution) did play a significant philosophical role in the advance toward the U.S. Constitution, so did the ancients especially Sparta and Rome (the Athens thing came right after the revolutionary generation). The Greeks through Sparta and Athens and other city states as well as the Italians through Rome and the Italian Renaissance are the very creators of our western ideals and culture that make up what we Americans really are as a people. I might also add other Europeans have contributed through the Eastern Roman empire as well.
I have a foreboding of an America in my children's or grand children's time - when the United States is a service and information economy; when all the key manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority

I personally think that anyone of indo-european descent should be allowed to become a U.S. citizen. In a world where other ethnic groups feel the need to target us for whatever reasons they may have, I find it necessary that we forge bonds of unification, and disregard our differences in cultural backgrounds, so that we may shield ourselves and our fellow brethren from the slings and arrows that outside world feels the need to constantly hurl at us. I am in no way saying that we should forsake our traditions and forefathers, but as a people who share a common genetic tree, we have a duty to preserve our genes and not allow them to be eradicated or assimulated into the general populace.
