Is it to the point where one receives odd looks for not conforming to this trend or that using only German words is restricted to the older people? Is it merely in advertizing? I have difficulty understanding this.
We have that problem in Sweden that we replace the Swedish words to som kind of "Swenglish".

Yeah-it will have to be spoken in the lands in which it is prevalent! No more 'press 2 for English'! Voting ballots, signs, and all other such things will be written only in English!

Ban the use of unnessary (definded as usable words of native origine avaible that cover the load) loanwords from Dutch education and goverment use.

If Americans stopped saying "I have went" everything would be fine.

I'm even beginning to hear that catastrophically stupid error made by Brits. Thanks, US media.

Were I the King of English

I would decree that the letter "c" be dropped completely.

The letters "s" and "k" can do the job very well without "c" confusing the issue. (Just my two cents worth).

    Language reform

I would reform the inconsistent and illogical spelling of the English language. The script we use is phonetic; why, then, is not our orthography phonetic also ? I suppose that everyone knows G.B. Shaw's word, "ghoti" . Though it looks like a Hindi word, it is pronounced "fish". Gh as in enough, o as in women, and ti as in action.
The same group of characters can be pronounced in too many different ways. There are altogether too many "ugh" 's, as in "Though the rough cough and hiccough plough me through........"
"Enuf", I say. "Let dhere be leit !" If I spel dhe abov fraiz "Dho dhe ruf kawf and hikup plow me thru.......", enywun reding it noz how it iz tu be pronownsd. Akchualy, hip-hop tawk iz a step in dhis direkshun.

I agree with bringing back the use of the Eszett (ß). I've never understood those spelling reforms. I've never understood why the Swiss refuse to use it. I've always admired the Icelandic language for its unique characters, and I think it's sad if the German language reduces the use of its own specific characters. On a general note, I would also agree with trying to remove the modern and foreign words from languages.
