In my experience the attitude towards Germans are very mixed. It ranges from great appreciation to almost hatred because of WW2. The latter is probably because of Sweden being a socialist/communist hell where every child from an early age is bombarded with how bad nationalism is and how the Germans during WW2 were more or less evil personified. All this at least happened when I went to school and at the same time a frightening small number of Swedish students know anything at all about the crimes of communism! Granted that Nazi-Germany did commit alot of atrocities, but the Soviet Union were even worse. And let us not forget the suffering which the Allies caused the German civilian population during and after the war. Lets just say that the education in Sweden is not balanced at all.

Although this very often is the case and sound horrible, it is far from the whole picture since a very high number of Swedish students learn German in school and are a part of exchange programs with German schools. In my experience many Swedish people like Germany and the German people. There are of course many fun and friendly views on Germans, such as Germans have a tendency to steal traffic warning signs for Elk
Perhaps you could tell me why Germans are so fascinated with these signs?

Ah, the moose again. One thing that Swedish people cannot understand is what drives German people to actually pay good money for moose droppings. For us it's at most an inconvenience when we are picking blueberries. But for you people.... I even heard about someone that put some shellack on it and sold it as earrings.
