I am very interested in how the WW2-era is being portrayed in Iceland, in the media as well as amongst the average Icelandic person.
Being occupied by the allies/Britain, is the average Icelandic person more pro-axis (or at least not as hystericial anti-nazi as people in Sweden, Norway and Denmark are for example) then the average european, do you think?
What is the opinion about the British occupation? 100% positive?

You know, that is very true. Iceland was in personal union with Denmark until 1944 and both of them were strictly speaking neutral throughout the whole course of the war.

It will be interesting to hear from Icelandic members. My own feeling is that the Icelanders much preferred the allies to the nazis. Just look at the nazi crimes in Norway, especially. Most Scandinavian people were deeply offended that they would be invaded by Germany. This was no way for a brother Germanic country to behave. I might add that Germany lost a lot of cultural influence in Scandinavia as a result of the invasion and atrocities the nazis committed.
Also, Iceland has many ties with Vinland. Almost one fourth of Iceland's population emigrated to Canada and the United States and the Icelanders were treated fairly and did well in their new countries. Most Icelanders were positive about Vinland and therefore, about the allies. Not all aspects of the occupation were positive, but relations between the allies and Icelandic people were basically friendly.
