    Post Re: Is it gross?

I think the widely held opinion that Dogs mouths are cleaner than humans, is nothing more than a myth.

I wouldn't encourage feeding pets straight off the plate, but I guess if you have a dishwasher, it can't be too harmful.

Eating out is probably much worse and "gross".

Definately is gross. Many place hardly even have health inspections. I know for a fact that at restaurants many of the cooks hands are filthy because they end up getting fixings, etc. all over themselves. My first job was at a "fancy" restaurant and it was like that. Oops I misread the topic. Damnit, I thought it was talking about how sanitary a restaurant is.

    Post Re: Is it gross?

my famly and I really like animals. I have many pets, 7 dogs(2 boxers,1 Siberian huskie,1 German sheppard and 3 mutts), 1 cat and many birds. However, I don't really think I would let any of them eat off my plate, Specially since I see them smelling and even LICKING each others anus every once in a while.
Atleast every day through, One of them comes up to me during dinner time and put their head on my lap and I give them some of my food
Just close your eyes...can you remember
The generations not so long ago
I feel the shameless urge that we must restore
Our former king to his rightful throne
And with me lords and maidens
We wait for the chosen son's return

    I come alive
    It's a time for celebration
    Our will to restore
Make our past become the futre once more

Still he lives! 2000 years have passed
And still we're yearning for his return
    We fulfill a wishful prohecy
    And so the chanting begins
Hail Caesar...Hail Caesar...we render unto you
    What is still yours

Could very well be Slavic superstition as I heard the very same thing from my grandmother countless times -with the same excuse too. I recall hearing about a certain bacteria or virus or something that some cats may have in their saliva that can be harmful to the unborn baby, but that's only for pregnant women; not a rule for your whole life. I'm really not clear about the details of this and I'm sure it was only for cats and not dogs.

And well, I'm not having any children in the near future.

Might be off topic, but it's true.

Maybe next time she mutters that you could reply "well unlike you I make rover wear a condom when he sleeps with me". LOL!

I didn't vote, I think it's okay to let your pets eat your leftovers, but they have their own bowls. Use them. A begging pet at a dinner table is distracting, and rude when company is over. I don't like my dog to lick me. My only indoor pet, a cat does though, it doesn't bother me. Cat tongues are like sandpaper, and not slobbery. My cat wouldn't eat a chicken nugget if I crammed it down his throat. The only people food he'll touch is canned tuna, moravian ginger cookies, and twizzlers. I have a very odd kitty. He took a twizzler out of my mouth once, and ran off with it.

Cat saliva is harmful to pregnant women: pure BS, as is the "avoid the litterbox". Think of all the crap out in the atmosphere...
