'More Content in Dutch Integration Debate'

    'More content in integration debate'

Labour party leader Wouter Bos is worried that his party is more concerned about the tone of the immigration debate than its content, he told a meeting in Amsterdam on Monday evening.

Bos said while Geert Wilders' pronouncements are 'often problematic', the party leader of the anti-immigration PVV party is seen as someone who addresses problems, reports the Telelgraaf.

The Labour party must not be afraid to tackle the 'difficult dilemmas', said Bos. He added that it is unavoidable that people will sometimes be insulted by this.

Well its probably the choice they make for there campaign, Wouter Bos needs immigrants otherwise they dont get any votes while Geert Wilders will not get votes if he doesnt have anti immigration speeches.

It is funny though that lately even the left wing parties are changing there programs to get a few of the anti immigration people to there side, not that it actually works but its funny they try to.
If christ is the answer then what is the question?

The Partij van de Arbeid (Dutch Labour) does have a modest 'right-wing' when it comes to immigration, and in the party reside quite a few people who really don't like Islam (I have sources). The problem of course, as Drim pointed out, is that any real criticism of immigration and Islam (and possibly even multiculturalism) is smothered almost instantly because such a large part of their electorate is non-native and/or muslim. They try to have it both ways, and appeal to Wilders' voters as well, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

And while Labour is filled with intellectuals (and of course officials), Wilders' party has almost no intellectuals; which makes his party a less than desirable choice for any serious thinker. Unless, of course, you're an anti-intellectual. Though in that case I would ask you to reconsider.

I notice since a while that more parties are repeating the stuff which Wilders already tried to put in a discussion and for which they first demonished him.
I think it's time that certain parties are going to offer Wilders their excuses now they see he was right, in almost everything he said.

    Arwen,

I don't think any member of the progressive establishment will ever apologise* to Wilders, unless some kind of huge muslim terrorist plot is executed (or foiled). It's obvious that something terrible will happen before most (if any) of our "thinking" elite reconsider their pro-multicultural stance. In a way, this also goes for all the citizens who quietly complain about multiculturalism, but never follow through on their opinion and actually do something. Complaining on a message board won't cut it, obviously. Although right now it's hard to blame people for not sticking their head out. Most of us have (future) careers and (future) families to think of and can't afford to actively and publically destroy the doctrine of multiculturalism. That's why initiatives like the Skadi Forum are so important: to set up a communications network for all of us who see through all the lies and deceit and know what really is important.

*You said 'offer their excuses', but I think you meant 'apologise'.
