    Various guitar-techniques

Well, I have always been interested in learning new and unique techniques to improve my playing, and to make various things on guitar more easy to play.

Right now I'm more into palm-muting, and various tehcniques and rythms I can use with that. Actually, I've almost grown obsessed with palm-muting

Nowadays I'm more into doing this kind of palm-muting: Keep of Kalessin - Studio Report, part 3
Now, these guys are from the same town as me, so their dialect are pretty much the same as mine eyes:
But try to keep up with his right hand, it's impressive! But I'm almost as fast as him, and after I've trained some more, I'll get to it

(Btw, if you notice his scar on his face, it's because of some quarrel between him and their last guitarist. They are constantly fighting, and they have actually turned the metal-milieu upside-down)

Anyways, if anyone got some guitar-techniques you would like to share, please, come with it!

I presume you are talking about Arnt and Magnus, haha. Thats BS that they have turned the metal milieu upsidedown here I think. Anyways, in the Aptorian Demon 7" Magnus writes that he thanks everyone who supports him in the war against Keep of Kalessin Keep of Kalessin was originally his band, he was in it before Arnt (Obsidian Claw) joined.

Haha, so it isn't as bad as I have heard then?

I'm no longer a part of the milieu, so I don't know what happens. I only heard from a dude that it's been alot of fighting and other people are taking sides etc etc etc....

Anyways, this thread is about guitar-techniques, no one got anything to say? :runaway

    Trem pick, a lot.

Even trem pick the corner of a table with your fingernail.

That's all I do. Fuck scales.

I have trem picked alot myself, but now that I feel personally that I master that technique, I try another technique. Right now, I try to master the acoustic guitar without picks at all. When you are used to playing with picks on an electric guitar, it's really, really hard.

I have always wanted to sweep, but I find myself lacking the dedication and discipline to learn that.

I find it very hard to play with picks. What I do to get that heavy distorted sound on the strings when playing an electric guitar is to play them by scratching to one side (sometimes pulling them) with my fingernails, like if you were fastly contracting your fingers. It's quite hard in the beggining but once you get used to it the sound you create is deep and heavy at the same time (lower chords are more accentuated).

If you are not playing something that hard, or without distortion, you could try playing harmonics with your fingers instead of with picks, they sound much more gently. What I do is to "hit" the string with my fingernail and immediately stop the vibration with the flesh of my finger, usually the thumb.

Sounds very special to me. But if you were to play some fast stuff, then what? Would you be able to play most stuff without the use of a pic anyways?

I like Iommi's technique of slightly bending the strings to give notes and power chords more punch. You can also add pinch harmonics to that for an outrageous sound.

You really should learn to sweep. There's nothing better IMO. It's really easier than it seems. You can't play any Yngwie without it!

In that case I use my index finger's fingernail instead of a pick (I kind of replace it). I put it perpendicular to the string so I can scratch it well.

I can't use picks! I'm very stupid to play with them , I get tumbled up and I can't make fluid chords, no matter wich pick I use. :runaway

I guess I'm the only metaller in the whole world that cannot play with picks .

I forgot to say that testing the capo d'astro on different frets or using choruses or effects to create an ambient, always creates new great sounds, and can give a more complex (and sometimes it accentuates the heavy part) composition.
