    Both workers will make you feel numb.

    Grocery workers are also notoriously underpaid and rarely enjoy benefits (to my non-US friends, "benefits" are health/dental/vision insurances, retirement plans, medical leave pay and/or vacation time...i.e., those components of work that are normal in civilized nations).

    Where I work in construction, I get 3 euros an hour, I work 5h a day, so I earn 15 a day. Thank heavens for the teaching I do, I get 50 euros for 3 hours.
    So, I do not think that payment in the US is too low per hour. You should see Greece.
