    Save the Hill of Tara!

The Hill of Tara, also known as "Ireland's Valley of the Kings", used to be the nerve center of administration, commerce and culture in Pagan Ireland. Yet the Irish government is planning to construct a motorway (freeway) through the nearby Gabhra Valley, thus destroying at least 40 archaeological sites linked to the Hill of Tara.

For more about this government-sponsored outrage against our archaeological heritage click on http://sacredireland.org/ .

A vigil has been placed on The Hill itself as spiritual guardians of Tara and the Gabhra Valley. But the fight for the protection of Ireland's most sacred landscape is also been fought in the political arena and the courts of the land. I am heavily involved with the Save Tara campaign myself and participate in the vigil as well.

I uploaded a few pics of the vigil camp and the landscape of Tara. People interested in my photos, please click on

    Re: Tara Hill

Yeah, this is just absolutely shocking! Nothing like complete disregard for our heritage. I've signed (one of) the Save Tara online petition(s) -- I don't know if that little action will help (I hope so).

Tara was continuously important in Ireland from the Neolithic until (at least) the 1100s -- obviously it's not important at all to the politicians in Ireland today. Grrrrr.

The Mound of the Hostages -- aligned with sunset on the cross-quarter days (Nov 8 & Feb 4) -- is late-Megalithic/early-Neolithic and is particularly cool:

    Re: Tara Hill

I spent another few days with the Vigil on the Hill last week. The Tipi has finally been put up as well. I slept in the Tipi and must admit that I never slept better away from home, and this inspite of strong winds and heavy rain showers on a very exposed Hill of Tara. I enclose a few pics.

    Save the Hill of Tara!

A group has been formed to try to prevent the construction of a four lane highway through the Tara Skryne Valley. The road will pass between the ancient Hill of Tara and the nearby hill of Skryne, with a floodlit "clover- leaf junction" to be located within a couple of kilometres of the north of the Hill of Tara. The group says two alternative routes were proposed and were more than viable but the Irish government chose the present route.

The group, which contains several Irish notables, has as its goal the prevention the motorway from being constructed through the valley, with a view to obtain World Heritage status for the hill and environs.

The Save the Tara Skreen Valley group believes its major problem is getting the word out to international contacts in an effort to bring pressure and scrutiny upon the Irish Government. Coming with the road is a waste management plant - effectively a municipal incinerator - within view of Brú na Bóinne and a major urban development in the valley itself.

The group believes the Irish Government is ignoring and breaking numerous signed conventions and agreements with the EU, UN and its own national policies and legislation.

Large numbers of commuters who are frustrated by huge delays on the current N3 from Navan to Dublin seem to want to have the new M3 motorway built as soon as possible – even if that means routing it through the Tara-Skryne Valley. Protestors say they are not against the construction of the M3 motorway, but just the 3km section which passes through this valley. They also maintain the new motorway would open up tracts of land for commercial, retail and residential developments, and fear some of this development could be within sight of the Hill of Tara.

Please check out WWW.MYTHICALIRELAND.COM for a link to see why the Irish goverment must not destroy the Hill of Tara.

Getting involved with the vigil is easy. Grab your sleeping bag and tent, walk in there and tell them you want to join. That's all. The vigil keepers aren't some sort of exclusive club, everybody iswelcome to join in.

The destruction of Tara can surely be nothing but a decleration of war.

    Re: Tara Hill

The onslaught on Ireland's 'Valley of the Kings' officially started on Dec. 31! Diggers and chainsaw thugs moved in to remove trees and earth from Rath Lugh, Lismullin Woods and Soldiers' Hill, Blundelstown.
Serious damage was done to Rath Lugh, where diggers removed big chunks of earth from this entirely man-made hill and listed national monument. But inspite of those attacks, some carried out under the protection of An Garda Siochana (=Southern Irish police service), our fight for the preservation of Tara and our archaeological heritage is far from over ! Those "Irish" government thugs, Shabby Bertie, Martin Cullen and Tricky Dickie Roche haven't won yet! For regular updates about the situation in the Tara / Skryne Valley, check

    and

Please visit and support the Vigil on the Hill of Tara. I enclose three photos. Two show the damage done to Rath Lugh and the third one was taken next to Skreen Church overlooking the Tara/Skryne Valley where the motorway (freeway) will be running through, according to plans made by the Dublin treason regime !
