What is your Idea of Hel(l)?

Whether or not you believe in hel(l), what do you think would be the worst way to spend eternity?

One word comes to mind and thats ALONE.Its really the worst feeling. When ever the word Hell is mentioned that word appears in my mind.

What is your idea of hell ?

How about spending eternity praising a despotic, capricious, vindictive, insecure, egomaniacal deity ? Oh sorry, that's supposed to be heaven.

My vision of Hel as changed since becoming a heathen. I envision it as a quiet and serene place where one visits with ancestors, a far cry from what the Xtians redesigned it to be.

    My idea of Hel(l)?
No idea about that, as I don't believe man will get to a certain place when you are dead, based on your actions in life.

But, if I should say anything, I can think of a frozen planet, where nothing live. A cold and empty place, a bleak horizon and that.

The image of hell as a place of fire and death is just retarded IMHO.

In a more serious vein, total helplessness, inability to communicate or to do anything for myself . This seems to be the same thing that neurologists call the "locked in syndrome." I can imagine no state more horrible. If it were eternal, such a condition would certainly be my idea of hell.

I've read "Johnny Got His Gun", and you're right. Nothing could be worse than that.

What is your idea of hell ?

Well, now, Arnt, if one wanted a real material hell, I'd nominate the planet Venus. The surface is red-hot. The atmospheric pressure is a crushing 1000 times as great as ours, and the rain clouds precipitate sulfuric acid onto the surface.

In fact, I used to say to my astronomy students "Repent, sinner or you'll go to Venus when you die."

I agree completely. I see Hel as being pretty nice. I see hell as being totally different. I don't think Hel is anywhere near the same as hell. I think hell is very definitely a Christian corruption of the idea of Hel.

But limiting my comments to hell, I agree with nordicdusk and freya3. I think utter and neverending loneliness is exactly what hell is.
