I have very few true friends. Most of the people I know are aquaintances that are the type of ''friends'' that are only around if they need you for something. I have little time or tolerance for fake people.

According to Facebook - 66. But in reality, nearly all of them are mere acquaintances. It is hard to decide, though, which people who are 'friends' and which people who are not. My social life is mostly confined to weekend drinking, nowadays, as most of my (previously) close friends have either moved far away or grown apart from me.

I tend to define 'proper friends' as any person I could go for a hiking trip or vacation abroad with, only the two of us. I think that usually is a very good benchmark of distinction, as it requires a certain level of mutual reliance, trust, understanding and comfortable togetherness. I've had several friendships tested, passed and broken over that.

Judging by the aforementioned critera, I have about 3 friends, not counting family.

Hel, I can do better. I can count my friends on the first 3 fingers of my hand . As far as acquaintances go, I've got plently of those.

I've always prefered to keep to myself to some degree, especially more so when I finally hit 17. However, when I was younger, I had quite a few childhood friends in a close-knit group, but as we grew up we all went our seperate ways. Looking back, I'm glad we did. They all got into the party / rave scene. Three are in jail for possession, one OD'ed and I'm not sure what happened to the other.

This is all how you define friends and if those friends are living in this life or have already passed on to the next place.

There are different types of friends beer friends, hunting friends, Internet friends, work friends, fishing friends, friends you meet at social functions, political friends, and others.

Then when you have a really good friends and they pass on, they are still your friend they are just in a different place.
Life is like a fire hydrant- sometimes you help people put out their fires, but most of the time you just get peed on by every dog in the neighborhood.

Ever since childhood, I have really had about 0 people I would consider my friend. Although I will give myself this, I have quite high standards for that, for a girlfriend they like have to be almost about as close to me as my sister and that's why I have virtually given up trying to find female friends that are similar to me. I am paranoid about it because girls almost never make good friends and I think any young female who has them is actually hindering her life. It may sound a bit extreme but if you look at the way people behave it's really true. Women don't need same sex friends in the way men do. Women, as the weaker sex (not intellectually) are naturally always stepping on each other's heads in order to get attention from the stronger sex. The only time a woman wants girlfriends is to use them to get something else she wants, although on occasion women do genuinely want a sisterly friendship and this only comes from maternal instincts. Men don't need to do that since they are the stronger sex, so they are not desperate to destroy each other like women are. What men do is pick on the weaklings and rid themselves of their deadweights.

Although I believe being introverted is actually really in a way like being handicapped, I am not that ashamed of the fact that I don't have friends. I have made a choice not to be a lap dog and to selectively go after what I want in life on my own terms.

I have five very close friends. I used to have six but he is no longer with us. I had to trust my life with some of them before on multiple occassions and they never let me down, nor could I let them down. They are more like family to me.

    You said it best SpearBrave.

    I voted 30-50

I'm not shy at all. It is hard to go anywhere in this city without running into someone I know. I'm fiercely loyal to my closest friends.

With this being said, I have a few enemies too, the kind that when we see each other we fight no matter where we are or who is around.

I have some people I consider good friends here on Skadi. Real life, I have maybe 2 friends. It's a hard thing to trust people or to find people you share similarities with. But here, I think I've found that medium<3

I always have some trustworthy friends I can rely on but their number is quite low. Many people are acquaintances but real friends prove themselves when they stand behind you in your darkest hours in an unconditional way or when they stay with you even if they can“t profit in any way by being your friend at that time. Most acquaintances are fair weather-friends: You can“t trust them to full extend, you can“t rely on them and they come and go. But real friends stay forever or at least for a very long time.

So I have six people (except family, of course) around me who I would consider as real friends. I know that I could call them anytime and they will be there, and they know that they could call me and I would be there.

Well, when I look back then I realize that it was never any different: I always had a handful of friends around me, but never more and never less.

Similar to feisty goddess, I have more problems in maintaining a good friendship with other females than with males. My current circle of friends consists of four men and only two women, I know all of them for years and most of them are coming from the same village. But when it comes to internet friends, the opposite is the case: I have more female than male internet friends.
