    Re: Ghent - Flanders

    I'll gladly add some more
    - inside & around the Gravensteen (castle of the counts)
    - an interesting frontage design in the middle of the city center

    Re: Ghent - Flanders

Nice stuff, Thiuda - from your home made collection btw?

Great, Wat. That's the Korenmarkt Swastika (Hema shopping center?)... if I'm not mistaken.

Some time ago even Fnac (!) had his own swastika banners hanging from the second floor.

There are even more swastika decorations in Ghent - my favorite being a 'never ending' hakenkreuz on the facade of a bar.

I'll go out, this afternoon, and you'll see what I mean when I took some pictures.

    Re: Ghent - Flanders

    And here you go...

Too bad there wasn't more light, and less traffic.

Only seconds after I took the pictures some elderly woman spoke to me, all smiling - she thought I wanted to buy her house.

The building with the swastikas is indeed for sale (I didn't knew that) - and she offered me a free tour... and claimed that the stairway is more impressive than the swastikas.

    My plans didn't allow that.

Anyway, the original place has been divided between a bar - "De Kassei" - and an art gallery (?) - but now the owner is reconnecting them, once again.

@ Parsifal, yes exactly, the Korenmarkt - Hema shopping center
I know where that place "De Kassei" is but I have never noticed these swastika's, very nice. Going to check it out myself soon.
What other buildings like that in Ghent do you know?

    Re: Ghent - Flanders

The neighbourhood behind 'De Kassei' is home of a large student community. I saw some more sun wheels/swastikas on my walks through it, last year.

But it's been a while... I don't know the places or the names of the streets, it's not really my part of town - I should check it out, though.

The Korenmarkt Swastika, between Hema & Club - maybe a bit more visible...

I spotted a new one too, on the floor of a a barber shop, not that far away from the swastika in this picture.
