Question Should one consider American as being a nationality?

Personally I do not consider American as a nationality because as the US is a huge melting pot, why bother? I could see someone having American pride in the good ol' days when it was the major European wave because we were a European nation pretty much and America was originally a European colony. That is how I also see countries like Austrailia,Canada,Agentina, etc. I would like to hear other opinions. I just use my European ancestry as my nationalities.Futhermore, I would like to add with the way our country is now I am not proud to be American.

I agree: the terms "nation", "nationality" should properly be limited to ethnicity. The only purely American nations are the "Amerinds", all others have citizenship in the American states, but not American nationality.

White Americans may be of for instance Anglo-Saxon, Irish, Italian or Swedish nation, depending on ancestry.

I agree 110% I would never ever call myself a Canadian (or an American if I happened to live there). I dispised people who will call themselves american when asked thier nationality/ethnicity. North america is a disgusting melting pot. To me it is no differant than negro calling himself british or asiatic calling himself german.

Most of my line has been here for 300-400 years. Hell thats nearly 10% as long as some "Natives". If I could trace back 400 years before they left England/Scottland/Netherlands I'd probably find that many of my ancestors were immigrants to those countries.

I consider American to be an infant race with many subraces actually, kinda like Europe back when "pure" Celts/Germanics/Iberians ect. were the majority.

While I call myself an American, by blood I am not. I'm proud to be one in the sense that I like where I live, my freedoms, etc. I'm not proud of our crackpot gov't, the over-egotism, etc. IMO, America is a pre-teen country, full of ourselves. I wish more people would take pride in their ancestry, and stop trying to fit into a BS childish culture.

Great, another "America sucks" thread. Why do you give a shit if the Eurotrash consider being an "American" as being a nationality or not? It's not going to change the fact that you were born in America, by American parents, so who cares? I'm tired of making excuses for the decisions of my ancestors (some made that decision a few hundred years ago, and some made it less than one hundred years ago.) I'm tired of defending myself against Europeans simply because of the country I was born in. Obviously, at one time, a vast majority of Europeans thought that Europe was a shithole for one reason or another, or else I wouldn't be here today.

Not proud to be an American? I thought you just said that you don't consider yourself American?

I LOVE being an American. The culture, art, music, inventions, etc. God Bless America, because with all of it's faults I'd rather be here than somewhere else.

America is the biggest corruption machine of them all... I guess the ugly hybrid mongrels of America can call themselves Americans since they have nothing else to call themselves... I swear the majority of them all look the same!

America will one day be judged for its terrible crimes on humanity and the Earth!

No, because American standards are so low that any scum can become a citizen... In the good ole days when only whites could be citizens (as per the Naturalization Act of 1790), which lasted until the mid 1950s... Then yes, there was a logic and reason to saying American is a nationality... Now just say white... Remember, Our Race Is Our Nation.
