    Salutes from Switzerland!

    Hello
My name is Corvin, and I salute all the Participants of this Forum.
I have memberships also to other forums under the same name, and most active I am currently in Stirpes but for political matters and comments.

In this forum, I will be biased towards the Mystical Traditions under the National Socialist perspective, but without much, if not at all, politics.

I am also looking for people from the Germanic Areas (Austria, Switzerland and Germany ) to meet in Switzerland or their countries of origin.

    Sincerelly

    Corvin

Well, instead of making my own topic I thought I'd just introduce myself here. My interests both in and outside school involve Odalism and the study of myth, folklore (predominantly eastern Canada), as well as linguistics, early medieval history coupled by the study of shock combat and tactics (particularly at Hastings), followed by archaeology. I am not sure what else to say, so if there is anything you'd like to know just ask here or in a private message

    Hallo Blood Axis
I will not be in Athens since I have to make my arrangements for work. Sorry again.
    Hallo Arlette and welcome
When I have time I study also some subjects of tradition, namely Norse Patterns, in particularly Unicursal Labyrinths, and I also study the human perception to the metaphysick. My religious orientation is in fact a more refined form of Norse Orientation, due to early, personal influences. I can answer more in PM but an introduction to that form of perception of the Holy will follow soon.

When you mean that you study shock combat and tacticts at Hastings you mean the famous battlefield and currently the area of Sussex that every year people reanact the battle ?

The type of combat that I study is Spada, and also Archery (I have a proffessional Lyon bow ) but I practice always without weights, and also I compete in long range. A question if you are affiliated with AEMMA should be answered in PM.

Thank you for the warm welcome, Corvin

Some of what you've mentioned seem definitely like topics I'd like to see you expand upon. Perhaps via pm as you suggested.

As for the more basic matters: Yes the use of cavalry at Hastings is a primary interest of mine not to mention the development of cavalry in itself. As far as I'm concerned Hastings is one battle which is endlessly misinterpreted today, and William's tactics endlessly underestimated by many. Is this also an interest of yours?

In what style do you train? (regarding the sword)

This is true, the reanactment of hasting hardly resembles the real stuff, but it allows to young people to get in contact with fighting traditions. The reanactment is not so much my stile since I prefer to get browsed a little bit .
I ride horse, but I have not yet practice any form of combat with horse. However is on schedule to try some form of fencing, archery and speer.
In the past I practiced with the longsword techniques of Talhoffer and also techniques present in the book of Clements (single hand and two hands). I have also practice some kendo, and also some techniques of Talhoffer with Kendo Swork (Boken) in order to test the kinematics of fighting without the risk of severe injury. I used to have companion but now I am searching.
Besides sword I practice archery, and I have tested many type of old arms
(hand axe, pole arms, speers (Roman, Ancient Greek (NOT SARIZA) ). If the time allows me in the future I will train also to Falconry (120 km from my house exist a school ).

Indeed, at least it does allow people to get some contact with historical martial arts. Though often times it is not terribly realistic. Reinactors are often shocked when discovering the real thing What often gets me about Hastings, is people's misconception about what caused Harold's defeat; something they often blame on fatique and the lack of archers.

I've also had experience horseback riding, an enjoyable hobby for those who can afford it! I'd love to one day be able to own a ranch, and test out a few things on my own.

Ah, the German longsword Something I've been wanting to get into for a while now. I favour the German style's more offensive outlook over the Italian, personally...primarily for techniques such as the villain's strike You have some experience with the broadsword then? Personally I find the longsword much more fun! I find it to be far more versatile. I haven't yet studied the poleaxe, or the spear but I most likely will in the near future.

You ride, and shoot straight with a bow. If you speak the truth as well, you are on the way to Persian wisdom...

Excellent exercise for body and mind.
