    Re: Proto-Germanic Paradigms

Personally I prefer a PGmc. of synthetic appearance which serves to illustrate the connection between both PIE and later Germanic languages. I'd like a stage after A:>O: but before 1st Umlaut if possible (i.e. 50 BC - 50 AD). This should precede the division of NWG and EG. It should have the fewest nasal vowel endings.

The comparisons should illustrate my preference:

    blendan(on) dagan, not blendano daga.
    gebōn, gebō, not gibȭ, gibo
flaiz, axtau, not floiz, axtou (diphth. short.)
    frijaz gastejez, not fri:z gasti:z
    sengwanan, not singwana
    swin†oz, not swin†oiz (V:V> V
    stallaz, not sta∂laz (∂l-TO-ll)
    brenko˜ not ? mr- (mr-TO-br)
    gumanmiz, not gumammiz (n-ASSIM)
    kenwuz, not kinnuz (w-ASSIM)
    arbmaz not armaz "poor" (b-LOSS)
    straumaz, not sraumaz (t-INSERT)
blendazmo:, twiznaz, ezmi, not blindammo:, twinnaz, immi
séan sesó:, not séan sézo: (REDUP accent 2)
    annstiz not anntiz (s-INSERT)
xerdijaz, xausijesi, not herdi:z, hausi:z (SIEVERS)
    warst, not war†t (tt/ts > ss)

Also, I support placing Grimm (1st Sound Shift) before Verner, so that we have familiar phonology and grammar, i.e. gripum, not gribmé.

I've created a new P-G wordlist for heathen terms using that new Google documents thing (which is pretty cool IMO).

If anyone has any suggestions on how this could be improved let me know.

Are thers any good dictionaries on Proto-Germanic?

    Hi!

Are there any good dictionary on Proto-Germanic? I was thinking something in the line of The Oxford introduction to Proto-Indo-European and the Proto-Indo-European world but dealing with reconstructed Proto-Germanic.

Language has to be either english or swedish (sorry, don´t know any other language).

    Cheers!
