DNA Research in Sweden: Swedes Descend from Agriculturalists, Hunter Gatherers Extinct

I link to the original articles and translate the relevant parts

With genetics we can show that they[hunter gatherers and agriculturalists] were two different types of people, two separate biological populations, says Anders Götherström

The results from the genetic investigations confirm basically the picture of prehistory that was prevalent 100 years ago. Besides genetics show that [hunter gatherers] came immigrated, probably from the East, and that they lived here in Scandinavia for 1000 years to then disappear again. Their genes do not remain in the population today.

Also in this article is a newer bigger study mentioned, apparently not published yet.

This bigger investigation confirms the picture that the original hunter population in Sweden was changed when the agriculturalists came, and that modern Swedes originate to a higher degree from agriculturalists that once migrated from regions that today are in Turkey.

It would be interesting to see how well this correlates with Coon's ideas of Swedes being mostly descended from agriculturalists (Med and Nordics) while Upper Paleolithics were pushed back by them. I for one am happy that the PC crowd is alarmed that genetics prove their cultural trends theories to be nonsense.
