Wink The Diary of Che Guevara: Modern leftists have little in common with their Marxist Hero!

Modern leftists have little in common with their Marxist Hero!

Castro releases Che Guevara diaries! America’s #1 left-wing icon says he became disillusioned and lost faith in the “world revolution” after going to fight in Africa and being around Negroes.

After Obama, Che Guevera is probably the #1 icon of the American left-wing. His photo has emblazoned the t-shirts of legions of left-wing activist since the 1970’s. His photo hangs in offices of the Obama for president campaign. Countless independent movie and documentaries, produced by leftists, cast him as a great hero.

Che was of Irish and Basque decent. He fought as a communist Guerrilla in South America, Cuba, and the Congo.

He are some not-so common quotes from the icon of the American left-wing!

“We’re going to do for blacks exactly what blacks did for the revolution. By which I mean: nothing.” — Che Guevera

“The Negro is indolent and lazy, and spends his money on frivolities, whereas the European is forward-looking, organized and intelligent.”— Che Guevara

“Mexicans are a band of illiterate Indians.” — Che Guevara

“Given the prevailing lack of discipline, it would have been impossible to use Congolese machine-gunners to defend the base from air attack: they did not know how to handle their weapons and did not want to learn,” — Che Guevara

Che Guevara also railed against “long hairs,” “lazy youths,” and homosexuals. This probably describes most of his idolizes today

Klaus Barbie helped CIA capture and kill Dirty Che

Che Guevara's capture by the CIA in the forests of Bolivia 40 years ago was orchestrated by Klaus Barbie, the Nazi war criminal called the 'Butcher of Lyon'.

Guevara was the Marxist guerrilla who helped Fidel Castro seize power in Cuba. Barbie was the Gestapo chief in Lyon whose crimes included the murder of 44 Jewish children, taken from an orphanage and sent to Auschwitz. Improbably, the men's paths crossed in Bolivia. Barbie's record was disregarded when he was recruited by US intelligence after the Second World War as a useful tool against communism. He evaded French justice by fleeing to Bolivia where, living under the alias Klaus Altmann, he was welcomed by fascist sympathisers. Meanwhile, in 1966 a disguised Guevara arrived in Bolivia to organise the overthrow of its military dictatorship.

The Americans had been hunting Guevara and turned to Barbie for his first-hand knowledge of counter-guerrilla warfare: he had attempted to crush the French Resistance and was responsible for the death of its celebrated leader, Jean Moulin. Alvaro de Castro, a longtime confidant of Barbie, says: 'He met Major Shelton, the commander of the unit from the US. Altmann [Barbie] no doubt gave him advice on how to fight this guerrilla war. He used the expertise gained doing this kind of work in World War Two. They made the most of the fact that he had this experience.'

Barbie had little respect for Che Guevara. 'Altmann said once, "This poor man wouldn't have survived at all if he fought in the Second World War. He was a pitiful adventurer, nothing like his popular image. The people have turned him into a myth, a great figure. But what has he actually achieved? Absolutely nothing".'

Guevara arrived in Bolivia in disguise - very much like the French Resistance, constantly in disguise, travelling around the country unspotted by the Germans. Barbie's involvement was more on a theoretical level and, if you think about it, it makes sense from the point of view of the Bolivian government and the Americans. He had hands-on expertise in exactly this type of situation, exactly this field. He was strongly anti-communist. Neither the Americans nor the Bolivians had anything like this kind of experience.

In October 1967 the Bolivian army, with CIA help, captured the 39-year-old Guevara and killed him.

Barbie was involved in torture again in Bolivia and dreamed of establishing a Fourth Reich in the Andes. But he was tracked down by Nazi hunters and eventually extradited to France, where he was sentenced to life imprisonment and died in jail in Lyon in September 1991.

When you realize what this world is, the ideology of the revolutionary becomes irrelevant. There are really only two sides: the empire and the rebels.

Reminiscent of what Nobel Peace prize laureate Albert Schweitzer allegedly had to say about blacks: <b>

"I have given my life to try to alleviate the sufferings of Africa. There is something that all White men who have lived here like I must learn and know: that these individuals are a sub-race. They have neither the intellectual, mental or emotional abilities to equate or to share equally with White men in any function of our civilization. I have given my life to try to bring them the advantages which our civilization must offer, but I have become well aware that we must retain this status: the superior and they the inferior. For whenever a white man seeks to live among them as their equals they will either destroy him or devour him. And they will destroy all of his work. Let White men from anywhere in the world, who come to Africa remember that you must continually retain that status: you the master and they the inferior like children that you help or teach. Never fraternise with them as equals. Never accept them as your social equals or they will devour you. They will destroy you." -- Albert Schweitzer

Is that quote incorrect then? Or is this page?

I wouldn't bet all my property on either stake.

The citation is circulating for a long time, and there seem to exist various slightly different English versions which would suggest that they are translations from a German "original." So I reckon the question is finally not as much whether these words appear in the current version of the "African Notebook" or whether they existed in the 1961 version of it, but whether such (or similar words) were written by Schweitzer at all. Some sources claim the "African Notebook" has been published even earlier, as early as 1939.

I would have assumed that the "African Notebook" is a translation (or contains excerpts) of Schweitzer's "Afrikanisches Tagebuch" which was written between 1939-1945. The page to which you linked states, however, that the texts contained in the "African Notebook" were completed in 1938. In any case, in this age people were not yet as prissy to express themselves about race than they became in later decades.

Given how apologetic this page is in many respects (one simply has to love the last paragraph!), Albert Schweitzer might have been somewhat more critical and less naive than the establishment would like us to believe nowadays. Maybe an unbiased young historian will have the courage one day to uncover the whole truth by digging through the piles of Schweitzer's notes and letters.
