    Gaelic and Scots 1300-1600

    This essay centers around the problem of place-names in Gaelic and Scots, their incidence, relationship, dominance over each other from grosso modo Bannockburn to the end of a separate non-English Scottish monarchy, an investigation of the various ways on how the two linguistic traditions interacted in light of extra-linguistic events:
