What Ethnic Group Do the Sami People Belong To?

Sorry, I don't know where to put this, so I figured I'd just put it here.

What kind of people are the Sami? I'm very confused because some of them look typically Germanic while others look Mongolian. Here are a couple pictures:

From what I've read it appears that there are different groups of Sami, and I assume that they have mixed with various groups such as Finns, Swedes, Russians, Norwegians, etc.

Does anyone else have any information on the Sami people?

To be honest I don't believe the Sami are Mongoloid. I look at a lot of these Sami and they look no different than most Norwegians, Swedes and Finns. The presence of a couple of Mongoloids does not prove anything. I can find some ''Germanic Black'' (Blacks speaking English and identifying as American) in the United States.

What sort of question is that? They are their own ethnic group. Their language belongs to the Uralic family as do Finnish and Hungarian

It's not just a couple of Saami that are Mongoloid. There are whole tribes of them! They look more Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish in the places where they have been in close contact with them.

And yeah, the Saami people are their own ethnicity. They have their own language, customs, history (sorta...I assume), and so on.

The Saami are in reality their own group between Europeans for the most part with minor Uralic/East Eurasian (Mongoloid) genetic connections. I consider most of them as European, but Uralic European. Most have mixed with Swedes/Finns/Norwegians anyways, so some are Germanic.

This is what I was looking for. I know that they are Uralic but I didn't know if some of them were considered Germanic for the groups that they have mixed with.

There have been mixed relationships with the Sami people for over 1000 years in NE. They do have their own culture, customs and small amount of Mongolid blood, but not enough to call them mongoloids. I dare to say that most of them have more germanic blood/features than mongoloid. Sami is like a cultural belonging, not ethnic(similiar to the jews)

Before the Norwegians and Finns began to interact very much with them (from the 1700s and especially from the late 1800s), The Lapps looked much different than they do now. With small groups like Lapps, a small number of mixed-births will radically change their racialstock in a few generations.

There are no "pure Lapp" babies being born at all anymore. [And few, if any, overwhelmingly-Lapp-by-blood babies being born]. Pure Lapps look[ed] approximately like Eskimos in Canada and like Nenets in North Siberia.

What happened to the Lapps is what is slowly happening to all of Europe. In some centuries (if no big changes happen ), there will likely still be European identity(s), the same as there is still Lapp cultural ways in 2008; but the racialstock(s) will be radically different from lots of foreign intermixture.
